Los Terrenos by architect Tatiana Bilbao

October 25, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Interior Design, Mexico, Portfolios, Lifestyle, 2017

For this new house project, Los Terrenos (The Terrains), Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao conceived a trio of small buildings (just under 2,200 square feet in total), each of which serves a specific function and emphasizes one of the three main materials in the project’s palette.

The largest of these, a structure covered in its entirety with a mirrored facade that contains an open living/dining/ kitchen space, allowing it to disappear into the surrounding vegetation; its peak-roofed profile mirrors those of the mountains, and concealed doors open the interior to the terrace beyond.

Aves: Birds Illustrations by Alexis Marcou

October 24, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Illustration, Portfolios, USA, 2017

Aves is a series of birds designed by Alexis Marcou with Copic markers and pencil. Markers tend to give flat and bold strokes when working with them so Alexis wanted to give these illustrations a painted look with depth.

People Matching Artworks through the lens of Stefan Draschan

October 23, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Portfolios, Photography, France, 2017

"France-based photographer Stefan Draschan always keeps himself entertained at art galleries by creating his own art projects. One of those projects is “People matching artworks”. Although at first Draschan’s images seem perfectly staged, the secret behind them is actually patience. The photographer enjoys visiting different museums mostly in Paris, Vienna and Berlin where he waits for visitors to suddenly match with a piece of art in a funny way. "

Maxim Zhestkov Launches on Sedition

October 20, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Portfolios, Russia, Motioncollector, United Kingdom, 2017

Our friend and talented motion artist Maxim Zhestkov launches on our partners Digital Auction Platform Sedition Art

Ahead of the launch of Maxim Zhestkov’s first digital edition on Sedition, Elements, this October 2017, they interviewed the visual and motion graphic artist from his studio in Russia to discuss his surreal animations, his approach to his own work and its subsequent reception.

Read it on Sedition

Elements is an experimental video work by Maxim Zhestkov, which explores nature, physics, art and love through digitally animated ‘particles’ or ‘elements’. More than two billion particles, governed by tensions and forces influenced by those occurring in nature were used to replicate the motion of collective behaviour. As well as patterns of motion, the particles tell stories and evince emotional responses.

@zhestkov

The film is a trial by the artist to explore the idea that everything around us and inside us is made from simple elements or blocks, which can be arranged in complex relationships and become compound structures. It demonstrates that there is a relationship between the tiny and individual, and the enormous and multiple. The ideas the work explores brings together emotions, behaviours, thought processes, relationships, life, planets and the universe.

"Lithuanian artist Tadao Cern created a series of delicate, experimental hanging paintings that have nothing to do with paint at all. Inspired by various fabric combinations, ‘Hanging Paintings’ consists of brand new garments and scraps of material that are arranged, draped and wrapped around a simple metal rack, which serves as a canvas.." by Sarah Press, Ignant

Sculptures by Massimiliano Pelletti

October 16, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Italy, Sculpture, Portfolios, 2017

Massimiliano Pelletti was born in Pietrasanta, a land of noble sculptural roots that gave and gives a lot to the contemporary art. In Pietrasanta he also grown up, and he trained technically in the study of his grandfather, the sculptor Mario Pelletti. He made his debut as an artist in 2006 by winning the 12th biennial of young artists of Europe and the Mediterranean.

Pelletti makes experience of the shape with rigorous attention compositive, strictly consistent with the creative mood of his territory.
He puts togheter the mannerism with the conceptual relevance and the narrative sensibility, because he realizes that the aesthetic perfectionism contains in itself the conflicting root of the emotions.

Uncovers by Pol Kurucz

October 16, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Advertising, Agencies, Fashion, Photography, Portfolios, 2017

Pol Kurucz’s "Uncovers" photo series is a Franco-Russo-Brazilian co-production that pokes fun at conventional magazine covers. Rather than posing to sell, the Uncovers models follow their own aesthetic and behavioural norms to tell a colourful story. Uncovers wants the fashion-savvy crowds to reflect on conventionalism and the lack of freedom in the representation of women in commercial publications. The shootings took place in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo during Pol’s transition phase from the fine art world to the more polished and glamorous universe of fashion magazines. The series was a delicate balancing act between the amazement, the deep respect and the irony that the fashion industry inspires to the photographer. This unpublished photo series will be part of Pol Kurucz’s upcoming exhibitions

Second, in a row, this month OFFF on Tour festival, now baked in 6th time in Mexico brings us amazing Official Titles created by the famous Framestore (guys behind dystopian environments in the new Blade Runner)

Sharon Lock, Head of Design Studio and Creative Director, of the work: "Creating the OFFF CDMX titles has been such an incredible and challenging experience for us all, and I'd like to thank Hector Ayuso for the opportunity to be part of such an iconic event. I'm really humbled that a complete indulgence of everything I love has been pulled together into a single piece of work by such a talented team of artists.

The team has learnt so much in such a short space of time, and it is testament to their dedication and commitment, working above and beyond in their own time, that we've managed to create such a beautiful sequence. I'm honoured that it has been for OFFF, whose creative integrity we've all admired for years."

Our friend "Anna Radchenko and Edgar Dubrovskiy team up to bring to life this sombre yet vibrant film. Encompassing rhythm and beauty, the scene is set around Jessica Louise transformed by the smooth makeup of Yulia Yurchenko. LASER

October 07, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Motioncollector, 2017

‘лазер (laser)’ sees Russian dancer Maria Kochetkova navigate a world of floating light, dancing through lasers with emotive and precise choreography.

In a previous collaboration with director Tarik Abdel-Gawad (vimeo.com/96030980), Kochetkova danced within inches of a robotic camera precisely choreographed to capture her every move. In this film, Kochetkova navigates a world of floating light in a unique improvisation between dancer and environment.

ELYTRE - A permanent installation by Yannick Jacquet

October 04, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Photography, France, Motioncollector, 2017

It took 3 years for artist Yannick Jacquet to create Élytre, a forty metres long generative work on display at the foot of the the Alexandre III bridge in Paris. The piece was commissioned as a permanent design feature for Le Flow, a floating building moored along the new pedestrian area on the banks of the Seine.

Yannick Jacquet drew inspiration from the dark mass of the barge between the sky and the river to fine-tune his response to the immediate surroundings, calling on the instability and permanence of the flowing water, the infinitely nuanced shifts of light, and the interplay of transparencies between its large plate-glass windows and the glass dome of the Grand Palais just across the water. Drawing on the barge’s organic, cocoon-like architecture, he came up with a highly sensitive, reactive work in the form of an installation that reverses the overall structural inertia of the barge’s four hundred tons of steel, as if echoing Reyner Banham’s principle of regenerative architecture. The installation is linked up to a battery of sensors so that it varies according to the time of year, season, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, temperature, and so on. It is in a constant state of flux, permanently subject to imperceptible shifts.
