As creators with distinct artistic identities who met at the esteemed Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California - Trisha's passion for drawing intermingles effortlessly with Darren's fervent dedication to street art. This blending has created an extraordinary form that splendidly merges traditional painting techniques with modern urban influences derived from street art culture.

Their extraordinary creations have made a global impact by bringing individuals and landscapes caught in temporal displacement to life - all while passionately exploring themes encompassing dislocation, empathy, and purity from profoundly innocent yet intricately nuanced perspectives. The vibrant universe curated by Giorgiko resonates deeply within us as it magnifies our longing for sanctuary while traversing an uncertain world.

LucyLucy

October 28, 2021 by Arseny Vesnin in 2021, Australia, Portfolios, Street Art, Illustration

French Parisian born artist Lucy Lucy has immigrated to Australia in 2006. Currently residing in Melbourne, she has graciously carved her niche in the Australian urban art community. She has been painting murals and exhibiting in France, Australia, Canada, Thailand, UK and the US.

Lucy’s paintings capture the evolving folklore of the feminine, exploring the energy through archetypal portraits of muses, mothers and goddesses. Her symbolic imagery is an invitation to navigate the inner landscapes of the women psyche.

An important part of her creative career has focused on multiple collaborations, starting with the collective Awol crew as early as 2006. Along the years, this path has immersed Lucy’s practice in performance art, photography and fashion design anchoring her work in multiculturalism. Lucy’s public murals also often explore themes like social equality and Nature symbiosis.

@skio1

Skio produced his first graffiti in 1993 in the Nice region. Favouring vandal lettering in his early days, then sliding towards a figurative and romantic universe stemming from his pop and television culture, the artist brings his know how towards a singular art that mixes geometric shapes and realistic representations.

Questioning our presence in the urban space, he is particularly inspired by the Bauhaus and artists such as Chirico, Magritte and even Dali. Skio has created his own universe by exploiting his experience and his mastery of techniques, including spray paint, brush and airbrush.

Oxford Circus Re-Imagined in London by Camille Walala

November 30, 2020 by Arseny Vesnin in 2020, Portfolios, Street Art, Design
@camillewalala

Camile Walala, who recently painted a parade of shops in east London, got the idea to design a new Oxford Circus at the beginning of lockdown – when she says she was “struck by the silence of the streets” and “the sense of peace that had descended on London in the absence of the traffic”.

Pedestrianised, exploding with colour and full of imaginative street furniture designed to be interacted with in multiple ways, Camille’s Oxford Street is a place of joy, surprise and asymmetry – an antidote to the flatness and homogeneity that often characterise the standard high street.

In a letter accompanying the series, Camille reflects on her 23 years living in London, and credits the capital with sparking and shaping her career as an artist. This project, she explains, is in essence an expression of her love and gratitude for the city, as well as a serious proposal for a new, more enriching urban landscape. Full of colourful, bold architectural structures and 3D surfaces, the images present a vision of an urban thoroughfare that exists for more than practical purposes, inviting numerous forms of interaction. It’s a place for gathering and meeting, resting and rambling – evoking the multiple community functions of the agora, or public square, in ancient Greece. Walala imagines the space as somewhere the natural and the human-made can coexist and complement each other, weaving water and verdant plant life into her speculative streetscape.

Ricardo Gonzalez Lettering

August 10, 2020 by Arseny Vesnin in 2020, USA, Street Art, Lettering, Mexico

IT’S A LIVING is not just a statement but it is also a life philosophy for Ricardo Gonzalez, a designer, and artist from Durango México currently living in Brooklyn. His signature script style can be easily recognised from large scale murals to commercial work for some of the biggest brands to a simple sticker in the streets.

The ambiguity in the typographical messages continually creates a dialog between the viewer and the artwork. “A word is an image” and an image can be interpreted in so many ways, the direct approach of typography has been an exploring path where the main goal is to question our daily living and to produce a positive impact. After all, it’s a living.
