“Loop is an artistic exploration of a simple hypothesis: emotion cannot be programmed, it must be felt and experienced to be real. I started exploring this concept while observing my young son discover and display new emotions through his own direct experience and contact with others. He was learning to process the feelings of anger, joy, disappointment, sadness, and I found this progression of maturity fascinating and insightful. I started to question whether replicating an emotive incident could result in a similar reaction every time and, if so, could we program a machine to feel?”

Following artist’s statement, “Differance is the questioning of inherent power structures within cultural, linguistic, technological or societal systems. By making this non-identical sameness at the heart of my art-making, I mimic, imitate, copy, tweak and ultimately alter these structures. I then present something visually familiar to the viewer while keeping this spacing at the forefront of their experience.
This process has two aims; firstly I wish to make these systems apparent to you, viewers, so as to question your own relation to it. Secondly, by giving a new understanding to what we know, I reveal the fragility of these systems and the possibility for individuals and communities to interact, take part in it, and reshape it.
No structure is infallible, nothing is stable ; the world is an ever changing photograph.”

Conceptual photography of Nik Mirus is characterised by a clean, graphic and colourful aesthetic. Whether collaboratively or working alone on personal projects, he enjoys the tactile and constructive aspects of studio based photography. Through the conceptualisation of images, building and lighting sets, he takes great pleasure in constructing images from the ground up.
From Canada, Ty (tydale.ca) was born in Vancouver, Canada. He's been a creative from a young age, constantly trying to stay afloat. He decided to study Digital Graphic Design at Vancouver Community College in 2012 where he experimented with different illustrative styles and aesthetics. From his chaotic workspace he draws in several different illustrative styles with bold colours and quirky-child like drawings. The majority of his work uses the four basic shapes and is often geometric. Ty specializes in illustrative design solutions for creative agencies and brands.
Toronto-based artist Alice Zilberberg shares her latest series “Meditations”. In this series, Alice creates animal montages as an expression of self-therapy. As an urbanite, functioning day-to-day in a fast-paced, built environment can be emotionally unsettling. The artist regrounds herself in the sense of calm issued by these animals. These creatures reinstate a presence, a tranquility, and a grander perspective. The works are an amalgam of many photographs from different locations around the world, put together seamlessly by the artist in post-production. Their minimal aesthetic is metaphorical of striving for simplicity. Rather than ruminating on the past, or hypothesizing the future, Zilberberg’s works invite a meditative state, encouraging the viewer to stay still and find happiness in the moment.
