Pentagram - Designed by Apple Book

February 15, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Graphic Design, USA, 2017

Designed by Apple in California is a new book that chronicles 20 years of Apple design. This remarkable body of work is expressed through 450 photographs of past and current Apple products, from 1998’s iMac through 2015’s Apple Pencil. The book also documents the materials and techniques used by Apple’s design team over two decades of innovation.

Pentagram’s Luke Hayman and team assisted Apple in the design of the book, the first to be produced and published by the technology company. Working closely with Apple’s Chief Design Officer, Jonathan Ive, and the Industrial Design team, Pentagram supported Apple in their goal to create a book worthy of the company’s extraordinary legacy.

Eurovision 2017 by Banda Agency

February 14, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Advertising, Agencies, Branding, Graphic Design, Ukraine, 2017

Kyiv-based Banda Agency and Republique developed a branding system for Eurovision 2017 that's happening in their home city later this year

“We started looking for the symbol that would be authentic for Ukrainian culture as well as identify mission of the contest. Therefore, as a basis for Eurovision - 2017 visual identity we have chosen traditional ukrainian necklace, elements of which symbolise participants of the contest. Bead after bead, countries, which take part in Eurovision, together create a captivating celebration of music.”

February 13, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Netherlands, Portfolios, 2017

Daan Noppen is an international artist mainly working in drawing and photography. He is best known for his realistic larger than life drawings of portraits and bodies. When looking closer at the works one finds mathematic equations in between the pencil strokes that relate to our reality.
His drawings project past, present and future in the now as one image, a parallel reality that we normally cannot see with the naked eye.

Detroit canvas, murals artist and co-founder of Pop-Up Gallery Michelle Tanguay creates life-sized portraits of female using candies and lollipops as a visual weapon of independence.

“Themes change, depending on mood and environment but women are always the leading role. Historically women are often depicted as an accessory, but the lively women that I paint would never allow that to happen.”

February 09, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Graphic Design, Singapore, Portfolios, 2017

Singapore-based motion and CG designer Fyn Ng makes us remember the days when "skeuomorphism" was a topic trend in interface design. In his series of CG art he exaggerates that feeling by applying 3D and AR techniques to some pieces of routine interfaces we face daily.

Sam Cannon is an artist and director based in NYC. Her personal work focuses on the manipulation of time, space, and the human form. Living somewhere between still photography and video, her images explore the way we interact with never-ending moments in the age of the 15 second clip.

Sam has also used her gif art for advocacy. She has been involved with anti-bullying campaigns, and recently used gif art to create portraits of young muslim women breaking stereotype.

Ophelia by Danil Golovkin

February 07, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Portfolios, Fashion, Russia, 2017

Professional fashion photographer Danil Golovkin shares his latest project "Ophelia" commissioned by King Kong Magazine

“Photographer Danil Golovkin was inspired by the progress of Ophelia throughout the play’s narrative. She begins as a blooming virgin, enamoured with her courtly love, only to become so distressed by Hamlet’s treatment of her and the corruption and bitterness that pervades the Danish court that she is driven to madness and her eventual death. As a visual metaphor for this erosion of Ophelia’s naivety, Golovkin and stylist Kseniya Berezovskaya painted fake tattoos onto model Julia’s face, which were then steadily washed off over the course of the shoot.”

Art of Peter Zimmermann

February 07, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in 2017, Art

Peter Zimmerman makes epoxy paintings that explore the visual effects of surface and material through glossy pour-like shapes of rich colours. His amorphous forms prompt endless interpretation, the depth and density of his materials creating visceral effects of shifting light and colour, heightened by layered airbrushing. For source materials, Zimmerman repurposes book covers and old paintings, and uses Photoshop filters to manipulate found images from the Internet into unidentifiable abstractions.
