Claudia Fontes is an Argentinean visual artist based in England who explores through her actions, objects and research the poetic space and alternative modes of perception of culture, nature, history and society that emerge from processes of decolonization, be they personal, interpersonal, or social. She is well-known for her work “The Horse Problem” - top art installation at Venice Biennial in 2017. Her recent ceramic sculptures are gripping each other tight as they are transformed into fungus like growths and spores in an eerie but romantic series.

Ilka & Franz are a German/ Austrian photo & director duo based in London (UK). Their work blurs the lines between portraiture and still life and is often humorous with an unexpected twist. While their unmistakable use of colour is vibrant and bold, their conceptual undertones are often subtle and of child-like naivety. Ilka & Franz draw their inspiration from pop culture, kitsch and surrealism as they put a playful spin on the ordinary. The duo work on editorial and commercial commissions in the UK and abroad.

Designed by Rei Kawakubo and illustrated by Pokras Lampas, the monumental installation is the largest of a series of collaborations between Lampas and "Comme des Garçons" in Dover Street Market’s many international locations including Beijing, New York and Tokyo.

The peasant tries to pass through but the Guardian denies him entrance. Peasant and Guardian are the same character, the peasant, like each one of us, in front of his own fear; the guardian, something shapeless, that surround and control him. The Door/Gate the possibilities we encounter during our life.

Rather than a celebration of the British Empire, Walker’s fountain explores the interconnected histories of Africa, America and Europe. She uses water as a key theme, referring to the transatlantic slave trade and the ambitions, fates and tragedies of people from these three continents. Fantasy, fact and fiction meet at an epic scale.

Based in New York, Kara Walker is acclaimed for her candid explorations of race, sexuality and violence. She is best known for her use of black cut-paper silhouetted figures, referencing the history of slavery and the antebellum South in the US through provocative and elaborate installations.

Fons Americanus is on display at Tate Modern until 5 April 2020. You can explore the artwork in more detail on @tate

Water rather than air carries sound in designer Rocco Giovannoni'sInmergo headphones, which promise rich audio even for people who are hard of hearing.

“A 2019 graduate of the Royal College of Art's MA in Design Products, Giovannoni designed the soft silicone headphones to improve upon current bone-conduction audio technology.”

Like other bone-conduction headphones on the market, his design bypasses the eardrum and conveys sound as vibrations through the bones of the skull, directly to the cochlea — the "hearing" part of the inner ear.

Unlike any other device on the market, it does so via waterproof speakers that are fully immersed in liquid and then sealed in a pliable membrane. This membrane sits against a person's skin, transmitting sound vibrations through touch.
