Ahmed lives and works in Baku, Azerbaijan and graduated from the sculpture department of Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Art in 2004. The artist previously focused on painting, video, and installation, but now currently focuses on textile and sculpture. Ahmed recently had a solo exhibition with Italian gallery Montoro12 titled “Omnia Mutantur, Nihil Interit,” and is currently in the group exhibition “Crafted: Objects in Flux” at The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston until January 10, 2016

Art of Kip Omolade

Beginning his art career as a graffiti artist while interning at Marvel Comics and The Center for African Art, Kip Omolade has created beautiful portraits connected to ancient, realistic African sculptures.

The series, Diovadiova Chrome, investigates immortality. The labor-intensive process involves making a mold of each model’s face, reworking the cast plaster sculpture, producing a version in resin and adding a chrome layer with artificial eyelashes. The final sculpture then serves as a model for the hyper-realistic oil painting. This technique maintains the likeness qualities of portraiture while re-presenting a mask that serves as a conduit between the spiritual and natural world.

Anna-Wili's sculptures (Instagram) are stitched together from archival cotton rag. Her works explore the organic qualities and resistance of paper, generating a tension between the complex realism of form and the limitations and economy of the materials used. They represent animal life in an immediate way that conveys the energy, movement and physical character of different creatures. Her aim is to engineer a moment of contact with nature in a way that emphasises both the startling differences and similarities of human and animal forms and consciousness.

Heavily rumoured large-scale street art installation initiated by Banksy opened this week in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, UK and named "Dismaland". Billed as a "family theme park unsuitable for children" and "a festival of art, amusements and entry-level anarchism," the street artist's latest project offers "an alternative to the sugar-coated tedium of the average family day out," according to the park's website. Dismaland features 10 new works by the famous provocateur, as well as the contributions of 57 other artists from around the world, including Damien Hirst, Brock Davis, Ben Long, and more.
