The Digital Decade IV goes to London

June 30, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Events, Digital Decade, United Kingdom, 2016, Glitch

If you follow us already you may know that we run awesome digital art collaboration each spring for the last few years with the resulting exhibitions at OFFF festivals or so. This year together with Youth WorldWide we took a great challenge and moved our cause to London as a standalone group show to happen just in a matter of few days!

Sponsored by Depositphotos

There is No Planet B

4-7 July, London

On July 4th, Digital Decade’s annual art collaboration kicks off at the Underdog Gallery in London. This year’s exhibit, “There is No Planet B”, features the work of international digital artists who address the economic, social, political, and environmental problems we face by imagining a world without them.

Using their talent for photo manipulation and glitch art - the purposeful corruption of data within a digital file to create distorted yet aesthetic effects - 25 invited artists and 2 winners of The Open Call contest come together to “Imagine there’s no… climate change, human aggression, war”, and more.

Curated by Arseny Vesnin from Designcollector Network, with help from Curioos, YOUTH Worldwide, and Depositphotos, the artworks will be featured on large aluminum prints until July 6th.

The Others by Hiroshi Kondo

April 20, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Japan, Motioncollector, Portfolios, TOP 2016, Glitch, 2016

"Hiroshi Kondo captures the the energy and the loneliness of living in such a vast metropolis in his experimental short, The Others. The slit-scanning film bends time and place into a moving portrait of a Tokyo square by highlighting the individual and the crowd moving both separately and in haunting unison. "

13th Years Online! The Digital Decade 2016: Can you beat these roaring 20 artists?

April 13, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Digital Decade, Glitch, 2016

The game is on my friends! We teamed up with Depositphotos, Curioos e-shop and Youthworldwide London collective to celebrate Designcollector's 13th Anniversary. Today we set the start of the new 4th Digital Decade art collaboration of 2016.The title of this year’s event is: "There Is No Planet B" and it will be held in London in summer. The idea is to bring attention to the problems our planet is currently facing - economic, environmental, political - and what our world would look like without them. Currently we asked 20 artists selected by our team to create an artwork for the expo that portrays a major issue as either solved by humans or even non existent.

Now we invite you to overcome this group of artists and create your artwork. You can think of "Imagine there is no…", as you approach this project. The winners get a place in upcoming London's exhibition alongside with 20+ Selected Artists.

Please read the Brief and send your Application on a special website - Digitaldecade.net Follow the contest on Instagram - @digital.decade

3D Grafitti Paintings by Felipe Pantone

February 25, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Portfolios, Spain, Street Art, Glitch, 2016

"Felipe Pantone’s work is at the cutting edge of street art. Straddling conventional graffiti, typography and abstraction, his work fuses bold elements of graphic design with highly evolved geometric shapes to create an ultra-modern aesthetic which complements and reacts with the stark modernity of our cityscapes.Drawing on our concerns of the digital age and the speed at which technology is developing, Pantone’s art is like looking several light years ahead into the future and discovering a new language in which to communicate."

Glitch Textiles

January 29, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Fashion, Portfolios, USA, 2016, Glitch

"Every day we are surrounded by data generated by our presence in environments saturated with digital technologies and touch screens. Glitch Textiles, a textile design label originated by Brooklyn-based graphic artist Phillip David Stearns, showcases a stunning set of functional, colourful artworks that bridge the gap between woven textiles and digital art, all designed and inspired by algorithms.

The project explores the histories of woven image making and modern digital technologies, transcoding the computer glitches into stunning garments and functional fabrics. Phillip, whose significant projects include a series of experiments on imaging making and the digital realms, tries to create a dialogue about the influence of digital technologies/material and how they will affect how we live our lives in the future."
