Matthew Stone Art

July 21, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Digital Art, United Kingdom, Portfolios, 2017

Matthew Stone is an artist and shaman. These two interconnected roles are defined by his activities as painter, photographer, sculptor, performance artist, writer, Optimist and cultural provocateur.

A post shared by Matthew Stone (@artshaman) on Jun 29, 2016 at 2:39am PDT

“Optimistic thought without action will not fix broken systems. In fact pitching optimism as the primary means of self-actualisation for those facing genuine adversity can be a patronising tool of oppression. By-your-bootstraps philosophies tacitly reassert the toxic idea that inequality arises from the attitudes of those who are oppressed rather than the systemic violence enacted upon them.”
— Matthew Stone

Stone’s most recent body of work demonstrates an innate enthusiasm for the development of painting within the framework of art history. The new works, use 3d modelling software and paint to break with the history of painting on a flat surface, lifting the strokes into a virtual and free space. The addition of shadows and foreshortening creates an illusionistic - trompe l’oeil sense of depth and perspective within the canvases. He organises and examines complex statements in regard to the relationship between painting, photography & computer generated imagery disrupting the holy status of painting as the ‘cosmic flesh’ of art history whilst simultaneously pushing the visceral experience of paint forward. The series offers a new technical approach to traditional painting, showing diverse bodies at play and in conflict.

Digital Surreal Art by Mikhail Batrak

July 19, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Portfolios, Ukraine, 2017

Mikhail Batrak is a Ukrainian artist whose work examines the relationship between perception, Surrealism and empiricism. His creative process involves taking photographs with a digital camera and manipulating the results using computer software, combining disparate elements to create unexpected hybrid images. Drawing on techniques such as photomontage, digital drawing and collage, he updates the tropes of Surrealism for the digital age, utilising the visual language and style of the movement to pursue his own vision.

Lorem de Loop by Lukas Bruhn

July 18, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Graphic Design, Digital Art, Germany, Instagram, Portfolios, 2017

With "Lorem de Loop”, Lukas Bruhn manages a project where he creates a poster every day for one whole year. 123 days in and he’s still going strong.

Lukas Bruhn is a 24 year old art director from Germany. His focus is in advertising, but he has created “Lorem de Loop” as a way to challenge himself with new design concepts by experimenting with different softwares, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Cinema 4D.

As an art director in advertising, Bruhn’s job is focused on strategic concepting, which often leaves him with little time for developing the actual craft related to the industry. So in early spring 2017, Lukas decided to continue honing his skills with this artistic venture, where he would create a poster every day for one year.

“‘Lorem de Loop’ helps me to expand my horizon in design. It keeps my mind fresh at working with intricate programs, while giving me the opportunity to try out new software.”

The 24 year old art director uses Instagram to publish his work. “This gives me a lot of pressure to actually complete a poster each day!” says Lukas Bruhn.

Next week, he wants to give away posters to three lucky followers. So follow him, cross your fingers and stay tuned!

Nebula by Leonardoworx

June 20, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Italy, Portfolios, 2017

NEBULA is an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionised gases. Looking at one of these is like, at the same time, watching to the future and the past, due too the light velocity and the distance between us and them.

Leonardoworx made a design research about this concept, and "we are made of stardust" manifesto. It's an ordered disorder guided by abstract shapes with nebulas textures in a first step.
"In the second one I painted my imaginary textures (inspired always by real nebulas). Looking at universe is so inspiring and it shows how little we are in space and time dimensions," - says Leonardo

Eight Phases of Illumination by Aramique

May 24, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, France, Portfolios, Motioncollector, 2017

From sensory overload to sensory deprivation, "Huit phases de l’illumination" (Palais de Tokyo, Pairs, 2015) is a collaborative mixed-reality audio-visual experiment created by artist Aramique.  Eight physical installations function as a conduit into eight infinite virtual realities. Using abstractions of time, space, sound, colour, form, depth and speed to manipulate the audience's sense of self and connection to the to the present moment we create a forced enlightenment that disconnects the audience from their physical bodies and lets them be one with the virtual universe.

Light Barrier

May 23, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in 2017, Digital Art, South Korea

Created by Seoul based duo Kimchi and Chips, The Light Barrier Third Edition is the latest and largest in the series of works by the studio to create volumetric drawings in the air using hundreds of calibrated video projections.

The installations present a semi-material mode of existence, materialising objects from light. The third edition continues to exploit the confusion and non-conformities at the boundary between materials and non-materials, reality and illusion, and existence and absence. The viewer is presented with a surreal vision that advances the human instinct of duration and space. The name refers to the light barrier in relativistic physics, which separates things that are material from things that are light, and since 1983 has been used to specify the exact meaning of the metric system of spatial measure.

Artificial Intelligence vs YOU by Departáment

May 19, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Advertising, Agencies, Digital Art, Russia, Motioncollector, 2017

The new Audi A5 Coupé premiere became the world’s first automobile launch event employing real-time motion tracking technology. The car’s advantages were presented in an innovative show “Artificial Intelligence vs YOU’ — the result of a creative collaboration between the event’s general producer, DEPARTÁMENT New & Wow Marketing agency, SILA SVETA studio and Interactive Lab.

The creative concept “AI vs YOU” was the main theme of the event and the reference point for the script of the show where real-time motion tracking technology was used. Acting as the author and the main character of its own presentation, the car effortlessly controlled the 3D mapping scenario by driving around the projected area. Special sensors were attached to the car to detect its precise location in the 500 sq.m space and to connect it to the live synchronisation and rendering system creating impressive video content and controlling light fixtures in real time.

More than 400 guests watched the show from the stand designed to secure a specific viewing angle. At the show’s culmination point each of them was surprised by a phone call telling them a short phrase “But You Can” in the voice of Artificial Intelligence.

The Next Rembrandt

May 10, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Art, Netherlands, 2017

It’s been almost four centuries since the world lost the talent of one its most influential classical painters, Rembrandt van Rijn. That's clear world will never see another new piece from him even there were numerous hoax and fakes done during the last century. But what happens when tech minds step in the game? Having Microsoft and ING at their back, researchers, curators and developers from Museum Het Rembrandthuis, TU Delft and Mauritshuis created an AI that has generated a "new" Rembrandt painting by gathering and using data from all of his art legacy.

Treehugger: Wawona - VR Vision of Ancient Sequoia

May 08, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, United Kingdom, Portfolios, Motioncollector, 2017

Tribeca 2017 Storyscapes awarded team of Marshmallow Laser Feast are behind "Treehugger: Wawona" - the VR Experience that is centred on nature's cathedral, the giant Sequoia from the famous Sequoia National Park (California, USA). Wawona is the (local Native American) Miwok’s word for ‘hoot of an owl’, imitating the sound of the Northern Spotted Owl - believed to be the tree’s spiritual guardian.

“The project we chose exemplifies the highest standards of artistry and inventiveness. It explores the potential for new visual forms and investigates unique modes of storytelling that allow us to tap into aspects the world and our lived experience that are intuitively known but seldom articulated. Through its use of poetic abstraction, embodiment, and the viewer’s own imagination and interpretation, we are able to unlock new ways of understanding and experiencing the world around us. We’ve selected this piece because we hope it will inspire others to start creating in ways that take risks and use the limitations of technology to revamp story and experience”
— Jury at Tribeca Film Awards 2017

Participants are invited to don a VR headset, place their heads into the tree’s knot and be transported into the Sequoia’s secret inner world. The longer you hug the tree, the deeper you drift into ‘treetime’: a hidden dimension that lies just beyond the limit of our senses. Audiences embark on a journey of abstract visualisation, following a single drop of water as it traverses from root to canopy in these enormous living structures.

Orbis Integra by GMUNK

May 02, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Motioncollector, USA, Portfolios, 2017

"Technicolor nebula swirl like cyclones across a sub-atomic realm. An endless stream of geometries sequence through the stratification of an atmospheric order that signals life. This is the primordial inception of a new world, in a preternatural cosmos."

"GMUNK's Orbis Integra maps an evolutionary thrust through the surfacing momentum of a biological process. We’re in an ephemeral realm, where the material and non-material churn together like the clash of two infinite oceans."
