House 1014 by HARQUITECTES

November 15, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Spain, Agencies, 2017

Barcelona-based firm H ARQUITECTES built a home in Catalonia with two courtyards and a central garden. House 1014 features a remarkable red brick, that spans the gap between two crumbling facades on a street in Granollers, Barcelona. Two brick patios bracket the family home, offering a transition area from street accesses on either side of the block, while a further garden splits the space into two distinct halves – one serves for more private domestic activities, and another for one for entertainment.

To create a pedestrian entrance from a street, an original stone facade with ornamental window was preserved to create a pedestrian entrance from a street. "The sequence of spaces creates some kind of ambiguity about what is an interior or exterior space," said the architects.

The Cereal Abode at Greenwich Peninsula

Greenwich Peninsula
November 06, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Interior Design, United Kingdom, 2017, Architecture

The Cereal Abode is as much an investigation of space, form and colour, as it is an opportunity to create a beautiful, functional living space. Created in partnership with Greenwich Peninsula (architect Santiago Calatrava) and Aucoot, Cereal Magazine has styled the interior of a new duplex penthouse, which is for sale on Greenwich Peninsula – an area of London undergoing a cultural transformation

Los Terrenos by architect Tatiana Bilbao

October 25, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Interior Design, Mexico, Portfolios, Lifestyle, 2017

For this new house project, Los Terrenos (The Terrains), Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao conceived a trio of small buildings (just under 2,200 square feet in total), each of which serves a specific function and emphasizes one of the three main materials in the project’s palette.

The largest of these, a structure covered in its entirety with a mirrored facade that contains an open living/dining/ kitchen space, allowing it to disappear into the surrounding vegetation; its peak-roofed profile mirrors those of the mountains, and concealed doors open the interior to the terrace beyond.

Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa by architect Thomas Heatherwick

September 19, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, South African Republic, United Kingdom, Photography, 2017

"Housed in what was once Cape Town’s tallest building is the newly unveiled Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), created by London-based architect Thomas Heatherwick. The institution’s 80 gallery spaces were converted from 42 historic grain silos, storage units which were once used to hold and grade maize from all over South Africa"

"Heatherwick Studio transformed the tightly packed tubes into open areas of contemplation, carving out various oblong shapes to make room for large social spaces and lots of light from overhead windows. Heatherwick wished to clear out large spaces for the galleries, however he was also careful about not eliminating the tubular structure of the building completely."

“We realised we needed to do something that your eye couldn’t instantly predict. Our role was destructing rather than constructing, but trying to destruct with a confidence and an energy, and not treating the building as a shrine.”
— Thomas Heatherwick

If Rodchenko had Instagram back that days he definitely had to follow Serjios profile. With a maximum attention to details and totally twisted view of perspective, Serjios creates extraordinary shots of cityscapes that seem to exist only in imagination.

Architectural Sketches by Adelina Gareeva

March 02, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Illustration, Instagram, Russia, Portfolios, Architecture, 2017

As a two-years drop-out from Architectural department I was totally amazed by the recent discovery of freehand sketches drawn by Adelina Gareeva, a modern student from Kazan (KSUAE). Looking at her drawings makes my head dizzying from the amount of perfect one-dot or 2-dots perspective clusters done with simple pencil. In addition to being an artist, Adelina juggles her time as a model.

Barceló Torre de Madrid hotel designed by Jaime Hayon

February 22, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Interior Design, Spain, 2017

"Spanish designer/artist, Jaime Hayon's work is infused with a recognizable characteristic humor that goes hand in hand with superior workmanship and artistic integrity. So, it's no surprise that when the Barceló Hotel group asked him to add his unique touch to the redesign of the Barceló Torre de Madrid Hotel the results would be exceptional: The 142 meter tall building was constructed in 1957 and nine of its thirty four floors now house this ambitious hotel which has already become a modern landmark and a compliment to the arty Spanish metropolis it calls home."

February 17, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Photography, Russia, United Kingdom, 2017

Started in 2007 Zaha Hadid has created a project for a seven-storey office block in Moscow for the city's growing IT and creative sectors, with off-set floor plates and a dramatic black-and-white atrium. It's been a while since when the fate of the project was doomed till 2012, the actual start of construction. In 2015 they completed Dominion Tower, fitting a luxury business centre

Chiharu Shiota’s New Monumental Work

January 31, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, France, 2017

In her latest work at the historic Le Bon Marché department store in Paris, Chiharu Shiota provides the visitors with an immersive experience, poetically inviting them to “sail towards a fresh start.”

Known for her monumental art installations, Shiota has suspended 150 sculptural boats from the store’s central glass roof, using nearly 300,000 yards of yarn. A part of the ‘Where are we going?’ exhibition, it also includes the work ‘Memory of the Ocean’, a multi-sensory mesh wave evoking the impression of walking under the big water. Asking rhetorically: ‘Where are we going?’, the artist refers to the mysterious destinations that shape our lives. She says: “The creation of this indecipherable mesh and its plasticity are a mystery, just like our brain, the universe, and of course, life. I have no answers, only questions. These questions are the foundations of my work.” The exhibition will be displayed at Le Bon Marché until February 18, 2017.

Escheresque Art Space

January 25, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Austria, Agencies, 2017

Penda Architects lead by Chris Precht created an “escheresque” space with arches, steps and mirrors for an art auditorium in the center of Beijing. What they have done literally can be described as nested doll effect by inserting multi-layered space into the structure of existent Hongkung cultural district building.

Design Museum London

November 21, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Branding, United Kingdom, 2016

"The art of designing a museum is one filled with expectation and promise: a unique challenge for designers. It’s been a rare opportunity for the talents of Fernando Gutiérrez, Morag Myerscough, Cartlidge Levene, OK-RM and Hato to define the character and personality of this new incarnation of the Design Museum in South Kensington."

"The identity for the Design Museum is crisp, clean and acts as the nervous system of the museum. The job was given to Fernando Gutiérrez and his London-based studio of the same name, which has an international client list and a talent for creating identities, exhibitions and signage." La Maison De La Celle-Saint-Cloud By Jean Pierre Raynaud

November 02, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, France, Portfolios, Interior Design, 2016

"Opened in 1974, Jean Pierre Raynaud designed ‘La Maison de La Celle-Saint-Cloud’ in Paris, a house and art installation comprised entirely of white tiles. The obsessive construction of the house’s walls, floors, ceilings and fixed furniture were all coated with white 15cm x 15cm ceramic tiles with black joints. Covered with a mass-produced article, the architect wanted to produce an absolute space, controlled by a regular grid."

"La Maison de La Celle-Saint-Cloud closed down in 1988 and was subsequently knocked down in 1993. The remaining fragments are exhibited in various installations at CAPC and The Museum of Contemporary Art in Bordeaux."
