Portrait of 2124 Porcelain Vessels by Charlie and Blair

October 03, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Australia, Design, Portfolios, 2016

Adrian Smith "Charlie", a part of duo "Charlie & Blair" (with Heather Lockhart) created a self-portrait "Untitled" using 2124 porcelain painted vessels

“Each vessel was hand thrown over a period of two months. As they came off the wheel I didn’t try and alter/perfect the shape of the vessel. Instead, I wanted to keep each vessel in their current state in order to capture a moment in time. These individual imperfections as a whole aren’t noticeable until the viewer approaches the piece. These subtle imperfections reflect my sense of identity and personal pursuit for perfection. Everyone has flaws and it isn’t until you get to a deeper level in a relationship, or closer to the subject matter that you notice these cracks and flaws. I used a stippling technique on each individual vessel that from up close has a perspective of scattered dots, but from afar the viewer receives a completed image of the artist. This shift in perspective creates alternating views depending on the angle and distance that the artwork is being received. I wanted to keep the facial expression neutral so the viewer can bring their own experiences to the subject matter. By doing this the viewer is interpreting the subject matter from their perspective and in a sense are critiquing the piece based on face value. The repetition of the vessels reflects my pursuit of perfection. By repeating the same vessel, I was guided by feel and sight to ultimately create a uniformed scale piece.”

Fantasy Surrealistic Illustrations by Cyril Rolando

September 30, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Illustration, France, Portfolios, 2016

French artist Cyril Rolando creates surreal fantasy universes inspired by Hayao Miyazaki and Tim Burton

“Tim Burton and Hayao Miyazaki are both the roots of my own world. I like the surrealism movement, especially the work of Boris Vian and his ‘Foam of the Daze’ (L’Ecume des jours). I like the absurdity, the creativity and the enchanting universes, where colors bring more emotions than thousands smiles or million tears”

Babeth Lafon illustrations

September 29, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Fashion, France, Illustration, Portfolios, 2016

"Babeth Lafon is a beauty and lifestyle illustrator from Paris currently based in Berlin. Her work is characterised by pastel colours, layers of transparent washes and brushy textures which she creates for fashion magazines, cosmetics packagings and luxury brands." via

“I was born in Paris from French/Vietnamese parents who fled the war in the ‘70s, and as a teen, I’ve always thought of Saigon as my ‘real’ hometown (both my parents were born there).

Until I went backpacking there for a few weeks as a young woman, and realised that Paris was definitely my one and only hometown. I felt like a stranger in Vietnam, much more so than all the constant racism I grew up with in France could ever make me feel.

Still to this day, I have fantasies of tropical windows, sleepy hot afternoons and colourful details mixing up with my actual teenage years memories and obsessions – a mash-up made of bits and pieces from my real teenage bedroom in Paris and a dreamy Saigon, one I’ll never get to see. Now at last, it exists here, and strangely I feel more complete”

Concept photography by Peechaya Burroughs

September 26, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Australia, Instagram, Portfolios, Photography, 2016

We love Peechaya's minimalistic approach to create perfectly balanced image every time she has a new idea often spiced by some double meanings.

“My photographs mainly consist of things that I create or manipulate by hand. Occasionally I use Photoshop when enhancing the idea and presentation of an image fits well. Driven by childhood memories and very much fascinated by children’s imagination and their quirkiness, the direction of my photography is light, easy to approach with a little touch of everyday optimism.”

Our Colour by Liz West

September 23, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, United Kingdom, Portfolios, TOP 2016, Digital Art, 2016

"Liz West creates a multi-coloured rainbow space for Bristol Biennial. Known for her vibrant light installations, the artist filled an empty office block with gel-filtered, fluorescent shades, from radiant red to nostalgic violet. West wanted to build a sensory experience that will put human perception in focus. ‘Our Colour’ site-specific project let her find that the eye travelling through an entire palette will most likely return to the colour it finds most comfortable and pause to enjoy it."

Le Turtle Restaurant NYC Branding

September 23, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Branding, Interior Design, USA, 2016

Le Turtle's branding  Created by Leta Sobierajski and Wade Jeffree, is full of symbols and metaphors, from black lobster to the latex gloves. The interior uses raw materials, such as wood, concrete or marble, while neon lights or velvet curtains add a touch of extravagance. Inspired by new wave and visual occult, the restaurant color codes are pink and black that set the idea for the branding
