JBAK Street Art

JBAK is a creative partnership between artists James Bullough and Addison Karl. Each artist brings his unique vision and style to their combined body of work. Bullough’s main focus is photo-realism, with attention to ambient and deep space, layers, and geometric forms. He combines contemporary street art techniques and materials with those of realist oil painters, creating pieces of vivid color and masterful detail. Conversely, Addison’s work is produced using a hatch drawing style, which utilizes fine lines and details to create fantastic illustrations of both diminutive and immense images and proportions.

Nakagin Capsule Tower 1972

Photographer Noritaka Minami explores the architectural heritage of Tokio tells us a story of futuristic Nakagin Capsule Tower designed by Kisho Kurokawa in 1972. . As the first capsule apartment in history constructed for everyday use, the Nakagin Capsule Tower is considered the most ambitious attempt in implementing the principles of Metabolism (the movement aimed to formulate flexible designs that facilitate continual growth and renewal of architecture). This prototype for a new lifestyle for the 21st Century ultimately proved to be an exception rather than the rule. Now considered an obsolete model of living, the Nakagin Capsule Tower faces the threat of demolition to make way for a conventional apartment complex on the site. This photographic series below investigates the building as it faces an uncertain fate.

Last Voyage Game

Inspired (or not) by the most beautiful game Monument Valley guys from SEMIDOME released the LAST VOYAGE. A cinematic experience inspired by science-fiction movies, each chapter is visually unique and explores an original concept with completely new game mechanics. Go through psychedelic portals, explore grand minimal forms, solve mind-bending puzzles or race against the stars. While these chapters form a continuous narrative, the players are constantly surprised with new ways to interact as they seamlessly transition from one chapter to another.

Post-Soviet Pin Up by Kathrin Longhurst

Raised in East German Kathrin lived in many European countries and finally settled down in Australia. Her works reflect the diverse cultural background and strongly influenced by Communist era, but personally I'd call her canvases the pin-up reflection on a non-existent military post-soviet country. "Women of the Revolution" is her ongoing series of pinup portraits mixed with Russian slang words from "Bitch" to "Pretty". Follow up her latest artworks on kathrinlonghurst.com
