Sponsor: Depositphotos on Maria Aristidou’s Coffee Paintings

People have only recently recognized Cypriot fashion designer Maria Aristidou as a coffee-artist — on March 25th, after actor Hugh Laurie posted the artist’s portrait of him on his Facebook, calling it “magnificent.” The painting spread quickly and Maria’s first thousand followers soon appeared; at the moment she has about 9,500 followers on her Instagram.

On her own Facebook, Aristidou said that her idea to paint with coffee came by accident: “I was working on one project and spilled coffee all over it. I should have been upset, but instead I became interested in how to include coffee in art.” Maria uses several types of coffee in her work — from unpretentious americano and espresso to specialty Cypriot varieties.
