In celebration of the competition’s focus on creativity and innovation, AKQA’s official partner is Google.

Future Lions challenges the next generation to connect an audience of their choosing to a product or service from a global brand in a way that wasn’t possible three years ago. There are no rules in terms of media or technology, and no specifics around product, service, or target audience.

The deadline for entries is April 15, 2015 at 18:00 GMT.

Winning ideas will be honored at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 16:00 CET in the Debussy Theatre at Les Palais des Festivals. “It is always the up-and-coming generation that influences what’s coming around the corner,” said Rei Inamoto, Chief Creative Officer, AKQA. “They are constantly pushing the boundaries of how we connect audiences around the globe. We are challenging young talent to make a move and shake up the industry with ideas that will shape the future.”

Celebrating its tenth year, Future Lions helps identify the best and brightest young talent from around the globe. An unprecedented 1,760 students from 40 countries participated in the 2014 competition.

Tiny Worlds Sculptures by Jorge Mayet

Cuban artist Jorge Mayet is creating his own miniature worlds. Attached to white walls, many of his sculptures seem to float in the sky, their bottom sides revealing raw soil and roots as if they have ripped free from all that is below. Other sculptures seem to explode in mid-air, their small wooden houses becoming a cloud of floating splinters. This is no destructive event, however, but one that makes things move and spread.

Mayet builds his tiny worlds predominantly from green painted sponges, paper mache, wire and cloth. His most recent exhibition took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, at Galeria Inox. You can see more on their Facebook page or learn more about Mayet here.

OFFF Quebec 2015 by Jean-Paul Frenay

They say you should observe a piece of art deeply to understand its concept and interpret it in your own way, we think that Jean-Paul Frenay took this idea and twisted it into something even bigger than just an interpretation. He made sure to create an introspective “sarcastic” adventure.

Sundays by Mischa Rozema

Mischa Rozema and PostPanic Pictures debut film project SUNDAYS completes a first step towards its Feature Film goal with the release of the ambitious proof-of-concept short. Much-anticipated and widely-supported by the international creative community (over 50K US Dollars was donated on Kickstarter alone for the live action filming part in Mexico City), SUNDAYS is directed by Mischa Rozema.Set in Mexico City sometime in the future and starring US actor Brian Petsos and Mexican actress Sofia Sisniega, SUNDAYS is a philosophical science-fiction proof-of-concept short. The end of the world seems like a nightmare to Ben. A memory of a past life that doesn’t belong to him. When Ben starts to remember Isabelle, the only love he’s ever known, he realises she’s missing in his life. An existential descent into confusion and the desperate need to find out the truth begins. This reality depicts a stunning, surprising and dark world. A world that is clearly not his.

Mechanical Sculptures by Jennifer Townley

In 2008 Jennifer Townley completed her degree in Art Science at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in The Hague. Since then she has been working as an independent artist, creating mechanical sculptures that often move very slowly. Powered by electric motors her machines generate intense repetitive movements and changing patterns that subtly interfere with the spectators mind. Shapes are constantly being distorted and transformed, patterns convert smoothly into new patterns and independent forms seemingly unite. Within kinetic art her work can be distinguished by a smooth and peaceful operation and detailed finish and appearance.

London Flat of Lebanese Interior Designer Danielle Moudaber

Situated in the most posh layer of London, in a Victorian-style building in South Kensington, the flat of Lebanese Interior Designer Danielle Moudaber is something to dig every corner on the pictures below. The house is an excellent mix of styles ranging from Modern to Classic, Baroque to Rococo and Art Deco, Minimal to Greco-Roman, all merged into a soft and dreamy ensemble by the light blue colour which is omnipresent and renders a light “Mediterranean” touch to all spaces. interior-Danielle-Moudaber1

Morphogenetic Freehand Etchings By Artist John Franzen

Few years ago we featured John Franzen’s “Each Line One Breath” – a morphogenetic freehand drawings. In the years since he has begun drawing into 2mm black coated copper and brass plates with a needle, creating gorgeous etchings, from which he produces a small series of discharge prints.

"His meditative drawing process starts a single straight line from the top of the plate to the bottom, which is followed by an attempt to copy that line as precisely as possible. Each subsequent line results in a slight straying from the original line, exaggerating the original imperfections. His breathing controls the line, and the line also controls his breathing, it is incredible to watch. See the videos below." text by Booooooom

UP Balloon Coffee Table by Duffy London

Duffy London did it again, we mean the table or the epic way they think table should look. Last year it was a glass underwater topography map table, now it is a total way different. The UP Balloon Coffee Table cleverly creates the illusion of a glass tabletop supported by 11 helium balloons. Duffy plans to make only 25 tables and they’re available in red, gold, and silver balloons.

Shylight by Studio DRIFT

Studio DRIFT, an artistic team from the Netherlands, has created lamps that blossom and twirl like flowers. “We’ve always been very fascinated by movements in nature, and this is how we started the project that we call Shylight,” the team says.

The satisfaction in our work comes from the moment the audience engages with the piece and they forget where they are, who they are, and they discover this new world between nature and technology.
