50 artists reimagine classic film posters
Singapore-based creative agency Kult commissioned over 50 artists from around the world to reinterpret classic movies.
At a time where the golden age of Hollywood seems to be a thing of the past and tired ideas are being rehashed, the team at Kult said they wanted to remember some of the classic films that influenced a generation. Featuring classics such as Jaws and Madmax through to Pulp Fiction and Silence of the Lambs, the collection is intended to inspire today’s generation to re-visit and discover some truly world-class movies. The illustrations were created for Kult magazine issue 16, titled Film which is being released in conjunction with new independent cinema The Projector, located at Singapore’s Golden Mile Complex. Poster prints are priced at SGD100 each and can be bought online.

We both make our living through photography; we do commission works, but two years ago we decided to do something for our own pleasure. The “Icons” project started with Andreas Gursky’s photograph “Rhein II” that was at that moment the most expensive photograph in the world. Initially, we had an idea to recreate only the most expensive photographs. Then we realized that it is too difficult – it is too much hard work trying to recreate a human from a picture by Cindy Sherman or Jeff Wall, for example. Besides, the choice of simpler images is not so big.

Beautiful Bucharest Bookstore
This bookstore is located in Cărtureşti Carusel, Bucharest in a XIX century piece of architectural art in the Old Town. Of all the possible uses for beautiful old buildings, a bookstore is the most elegant and atmospheric. It looks like the library of some eccentric explorer lord or a Bond villain.
In the 1900s, the place housed Chrissovelloni bank, which closed down in 1948. It then became a men’s clothing store, was converted into another store during the Soviet years, and was finally restored by Jean Chrissovelloni (a great grandson of the XIX century banker). He leased the building out to Carturesci, a chain of bookstores. It is their biggest and most ambitious store yet.

The Atlas of Beauty by Mihaela Noroc
Romanian photographer Mihaela Noroc is on a mission to capture portraits of women from every country in the world in order to shed light on the beauty that exists everywhere. A little over two years ago, at the age of 27, Noroc quit her job, withdrew all her life savings, and embarked on an incredible journey across the globe with little more than her camera and backpack. Her travels so far are documented in The Atlas of Beauty, an ongoing project that features a diverse array of local women from 37 different countries and almost every single continent.

Containing 81,000 balls, the 30-person ball pit is meant to “champion the transformative power of joyful play”, and also support children’s charity organisation Right To Play.
In a global economy that bows to profits, deliverables, and bottom lines, creative play in the workplace is often overlooked and undervalued. Karen Welman, the founding creative partner of Pearlfisher, sees Jump In! as an important way for adults to relax, reenergize, and even work better.
“Jump In! helps to promote the idea that play is also important in the work place,” she asserts “and that actually interspersing play into the working day is good for productivity as well as creativity.”

Preservation by Blake Little
Friday is good for weird and beautiful. "When people showed up to Blake Little’s studio in response to a Craigslist ad calling for actors, the amateur thespians didn’t realize what they were in for. Fascinated with honey as a symbol and an artistic medium, Little asked his subjects to strip naked and pose in front of a monochromatic backdrop while his assistants doused them in gallons of the sticky, viscous substance. The experiment yielded a striking photo series in which people with a diverse array of body types and aesthetics appear transformed into statues. Little will exhibit the results in is solo show, “Preservation,” opening March 7 at Kopeikin Gallery in Culver City, CA." says Hi-Fructose
