Hungarian photographer Noell S. Oszvald doesn’t have a huge portfolio yet, nor much is known about her – but the little that’s out there is enough to awe everyone. A 22-year-old presents a portfolio of powerful self-portraits, and one can hardly believe that she actually just started taking photos a little over a year ago. Her photos are all black and white, because Noell finds colors distracting. “I feel the same way about clothes and other matters of appearance, which why I like to reduce my images to forms, composition and content,” she says.

The Lumio is a portable light that folds up just like a book and when opened it becomes illuminated from within. The light is embedded with magnets so it can be mounted on a wide variety of surfaces and when fully charged it remains lit for 8 hours. The Lumio was designed by architect Max Gunawan who launched it as a Kickstarter project.

During the Graphic Design Festival Breda, Studio AIRPORT held a workshop called ‘Tempting Typography’. This three-day-long workshop was based on window-typography. Every participant joined a retailer on the St.Annastraat. On the basis of an assignment, the participants designed to reach a result which had to qualify and be able to stay on the shopping windows for a longer period of time.

IEMZA is the alias of an artist living and working in Reims, France. He is fascinated by chaotic settings, reinforced concrete and abandoned building – basically, rubble. Which forms the mainspring for most of his output. He views these disregarded spaces as fertile ground in which his creations can be born – germinated paradoxically by what appears to have sunk into oblivion and desertion.
"The rendering of my wall compositions is close to a sketch, integrating a vast hierarchy of lines."

Designcollector has been supporting TOCA ME conference for ages but pity has never been to Munich, hope we do it next year. In Special Titles for 2013 Event director Timo Böse came up with this blend of classic meets modern. Through interrelated pictorial elements and subtle modulation of intense colours and soothing sound, he suffused his piece with a vibrant softness. The traditional Still Life arrangements are enhanced by subtle 3D animations, evoking the artists associated with the event.

Every week, Jose Guizar walks the streets of his city streets in New York and documents the neighbourhood windows. After picking out windows of interest, he takes them into illustrator and makes magic happen. In his own words: ” I'm into all kinds of visual things, sharing good stuff with great people, and apparently, staring creepily at windows.” Check out a selection of Jose’s windows after the jump, and follow along at windowsofnewyork.com
