Olympic Pinup Calendar 2014
Russian officials are going crazy next year, but let's leave all politics and take a look at the new amateur Olympic Pinup Calendar created by Andrew Tarusov (check his previous work "Apocalypse Tomorrow Calendar"). The new Calendar is a kind of humorous answer for the whole political situation around upcoming Winter Games. Russian Art get Simpsonised by BHSAD Students
If you have a good sense of humour and a perfect visual memory than we got something for you. Moscow based High School of Art and Design (BHSAD) has a dozen of "kickass" tutors like Dmitry Karpov that squeeze students brain till the last drop of creativity. Physically and mentally. This time students got a brief to make a satire on famous Russian Art masterpieces. So, voila, Russian Art got Simpsonised what can be seen as a metaphor to current political situation. But truth is in eyes of beholder, so don't get it wrong - just smile :)

Filmteractive 2013: Russian Motion Design
Have you ever wondered how things are on Russian Motion Design scene? Alex Frukta with a support from Designcollector's editor Arseny Vesnin prepared a huge showreel that will blow up your mind and you will set a new record in watching video without breathing.
The Russian Motion Design reel was prepared for the FILMTERACTIVE Festival that happens on 25-26 of September 2013 in Lodz, Poland. Arseny Vesnin from Designcollector is going to speak about the hidden power of Russian artists and help to raise the bar of their recognition outside Russia.

Polytech Indentity
Moscow's Polytechnical Museum recently ran an open competition for the new identity and chosen the progressive work of Anna Kulachek and Irina Ivanova that you can see below. The new identity is going to ease the interaction between exhibitions and visitors by a visual language based on electric's schemes from school's physic studies. The identity got the new level of customizing by taking the generative modular concept that can be applied either on print and digital productions or on navigation scheme inside the building. The project is also unique just because it is not easy to get modern things done for state institutions like this in Russia.
Minsk Style
When I first time saw the concept work for Minsk, Belarus capital rebranding, done by Moscow-based designer Maxim Ali, I was confused with that bright stripes and fresh forms. What they all to do with the city like Minsk? But later things grow on me and I spotted a new video for "Think Minsk" project done by another talent Alex Frolov. I won't ever be so sceptical, the things must change, we can't stick to old habits and not revolutionize the whole perception of the object huge as the city. Great job!

Russian graphic designer Ruslan Khasanov who is probably best known for his experiments in liquid typography just released this experimental video where he plays with the interaction between ink, oil, and soap. Khasanov says he became inspired while cooking with a mixture of oil and soy sauce when he noticed the small black beads begin to form at the bottom of a container. He then began playing with a mixture of ink and soap to create this amazing mix of blue, white, yellow, and magenta. See everything in motion in the video above, and you can see some larger stills over on Behance. via

Ugol lamp by Yaroslav Misonzhnikov
On the latest Behance Portfolio Reviews organized by Designcollector in Saint-Petersburg, young product designer (that's already a rare profession for Russia) Yaroslav Misonzhnikov shown us the lamp called "Ugol" (eng. "Corner"). "Plain form and performance is combined with unique mode of setting it up on a table, by the way already received a patent. All you need is a table angle and board of a standard thickness. A normal working table is usually from 1 to 2,5 cm thick. The lamp is putting on the angle and rests inclined by it’s weight, then the angle between lamp and the table depends on the thickness of the table itself. Ugol means “corner” In Russian language. The object is projected for recently founded by the designer himself Saint-Petersburg producer Imenno-design. The lamp will be realized in a limited edition and released in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow boutiques and also on-line in Imenno-design brand shop in the web."

Kin-Dza-Dza by Alex Andreyev
There is a long story to tell if the words "Kin-Dza-Dza" reminds you nothing. Briefly this is a title of the famous Soviet sci-fi (with cyberpunk elements) movie directed by gifted Georgi Daneliya in 1986. Few years ago legendary director decide to go with animated version of the movie and just few days ago the fresh cartoon hit Russian cinemas. What I'd like to focus on is the environment drawings done by famous russian digital artist Alex Andreyev, we shared few of them below as well as both movies trailers.

This time it was a New Year visual fairy tale for kids "Good Deeds Fair" mapped on Victory Memorial in Moscow sponsored by monopolist bank (it's really strange when a customer in Russia can't stay with only a logo at the end and just be a sponsor but not a main hero dressed in corporate colours and a savior in this fairy tale).
