Synchrodogs

Tania Shcheglova and Roman Noven are two emerging photographers who have been experimenting with high quality cameras since their perhaps not-so-innocent youth. From frozen lakes to empty theatre stages across Eastern Europe, the duo have snapped haunting images of the surroundings available to them, often emanating a dark or eerie mood. http://www.synchrodogs.com/

Multiculturalism by BHSAD Students

After enormous success of "Russian Art get Simpsonised" students from Moscow high school of Art and Design BSHAD strikes again. I am really jealous they have a tutor like Dmitry Karpov, this time he "beats" out lumps of creative out of their heads. The brief was short - migrate Russian (Soviet) Cartoons personages to Foreign Animation Families like Adventure Time, The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park and SpongeBob SquarePants. The idea of a study to explore new boundaries of multiculturalism and reveal tolerance and patience. To get more fun you must be Russian and grown up on Soviet animation, otherwise enjoy the project itself. You might find few works responding to the hot political topic around Ukraine's issues, but take it with a smile rather than seriously.

Écorché Energy Drinks

Hope everyone remember drawing studies with Écorché sculpture, disgusting human without skin showing off its muscles. Designers Constantin Bolimond (Russia) and Dmitrii Pacukevich (Belarus) pay a tribute to the time spent in art schools and created clever concept of "Écorché Energy Drinks" peeling "a skin" from famous bottles like Coke, Evian and etc. ecorche-drinks

Olympic Pinup Calendar 2014

Russian officials are going crazy next year, but let's leave all politics and take a look at the new amateur Olympic Pinup Calendar created by Andrew Tarusov (check his previous work "Apocalypse Tomorrow Calendar"). The new Calendar is a kind of humorous answer for the whole political situation around upcoming Winter Games. I won't translate mottos from each page, so please enjoy the Soviet aesthetic graphics below. If you read Russian you can order print version on https://boomstarter.ru/projects/tarusov/pechat_sportivnogo_kalendarya_na_2014_g

The Void

Audiovisual installation “Void” created by Saint-Petersburg based collective Tundra is an attempt to visualize the idea of emptiness.Emptiness here is regarded not as an absence of everything, but as an initial state when anything can appear. To see how dark room turns into the Big Bang epicenter a visitor should become “empty”. Every move and sound, captured by sensitive equipment, stops the 360 degrees audiovisual flow around. Calligraphy by Evgeny Tkhorzhevsky

While watching Evgeny's latest calligraphy video my brain was pulsating with "It is impossible" warning messages. Lettering is still the most impressive handcrafted state of art we are able to enjoy in 21 century. Ink pens and precious hand's movements will leave your mouth agape till the last dot in Evgeny Tkhorzhevsky portfolio.
