"PULSAR lamp is a project by SAVE art & science laboratory. The project’s idea is to create a design object which would allow observing a chemical process in real time. Substance sublimation and crystallization processes can be observed inside the PULSAR lamp. We have created a series of such lamps using different chemical processes. Alchemy means transformation, which takes place not only in chemistry but also in the human consciousness. We are interested in investigating mental transformation processes inside a human being."
Case Studyo unveils their latest collaboration with world-renowned illustrator and funniest French Englishman, Jean Jullien. The edition consists of an impressive set of 6 ‘Face Plates’. Mayfair hotel Claridge's has unveiled its 2016 festive installation, this year designed by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson
The unveiling of the Claridge’s Christmas tree has traditionally heralded the start of London’s festive season, not least because of the illustrious roster of designers who have headlined the Mayfair hotel’s installations. For 2016, it is designers (and long-time friends of the hotel) Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson who have taken up the challenge of reinterpreting the tree.

Eye Love To See You is the ongoing project of photgrapher Elena Kulikova (also resident of our Digital Decade 4 collaboration). Elena began a photo study of eyes in 2012, this is a place where you can see the onoing collection of photographs and participate in future eye portrait sessions.

Moscow-based designer Maksim Arbuzov made a sort of an art statement by juxtaposing two icons of mass-production and contemporary art: IKEA and Malevich

Studio Dessuant Bone is a multi-disciplinary design consultancy based in Paris, with our specialities in direction, design, product and interiors. Their conceptual series of tableware objects "Fasted" was presented last year at Salone Del Mobile 2015
“We have created a set of non functional tableware and focused on their representation, producing a drawing in volume made of blue metal wire. This dinner scene is framed by a brushed brass circle. ‘Fasted’ questions the links between objects surrounding us and their representation.”

“Each vessel was hand thrown over a period of two months. As they came off the wheel I didn’t try and alter/perfect the shape of the vessel. Instead, I wanted to keep each vessel in their current state in order to capture a moment in time. These individual imperfections as a whole aren’t noticeable until the viewer approaches the piece. These subtle imperfections reflect my sense of identity and personal pursuit for perfection. Everyone has flaws and it isn’t until you get to a deeper level in a relationship, or closer to the subject matter that you notice these cracks and flaws. I used a stippling technique on each individual vessel that from up close has a perspective of scattered dots, but from afar the viewer receives a completed image of the artist. This shift in perspective creates alternating views depending on the angle and distance that the artwork is being received. I wanted to keep the facial expression neutral so the viewer can bring their own experiences to the subject matter. By doing this the viewer is interpreting the subject matter from their perspective and in a sense are critiquing the piece based on face value. The repetition of the vessels reflects my pursuit of perfection. By repeating the same vessel, I was guided by feel and sight to ultimately create a uniformed scale piece.”

It's official now - we live in a crazy world :) Snapchat, which is now a part of Snap Inc released its first physical object designed for generation Y - Snap Spectacles. Forget Google Glasses that provoked passerby to punch a face of their owner for spying/not spying. Spectacles are fancy sunglasses with an integrated video camera that makes it easy to create Memories.
Alexander Chapelin creates magical coffee tables by using stone and resin where you have full illusion you own a piece of ocean floor in your house. Some of his tables have night feature that can amaze you during long dark season.
Russian product and motion designer based in New York - Pavel Golovkin released a concept of minimal-looking pocket synthesizer ZONT built for sound geeks and electronic music composers. We are not sure if he is going to run a crowdfunding campaign but it can be worth of it.

“If the brain has the wrong prior knowledge, our perception will be false. With modern technology we can make many novel pictures that the brain has not been designed to comprehend.
We cannot avoid having false perceptions of these pictures. One object that it is almost impossible to perceive correctly is the inside of a hollow mask of a face. When we look inside this hollow mask, we cannot help but see it as a normal convex face. Our prior belief that faces are convex and not hollow is too strong to be modified. If the mask is slowly rotating, an additional illusion is caused. Because we see the mask inverted, the tip of the nose appears to be the nearest part of the face, when it is in fact the part that is furthest away. As a result we misinterpret the movement of the mask and see the direction of the rotation reverse whenever we are looking into the hollow.”
Belarusian product designer Constantin Bolimond and character artist Vasilii Mialick created a concept of a lamp that likes noodles too much
“Italian Studio AMeBE pays homage to the stunning architectural beauty of Saint Peter’s Basilica by recreating it as a magnificent lamp. The hanging light fixture focuses its attention on the Vatican City’s iconic dome, using a hyperrealistic approach to craft a striking likeness. Designers Alessandra Mantovani and Eleonora Barbareschi—the duo behind Studio AMeBE—hand painted the ornate and weathered exterior as well as the religious scenes that line the inside. From certain angles, the miniaturized structure could be the real thing.”
