Real Indoor Clouds by Berndnaut Smilde

Time magazine named indoor Clouds created by Berndnaut Smilde fascinating idea and its implementation as one of the Best Inventions of the Year 2012. "It requires meticulous planning: the temperature, humidity and lighting all have to be just so. Once everything is ready, Smilde summons the cloud out of the air using a fog machine. It lasts only moments, but the effect is dramatic and strangely moving."

Cocoon

People say that a new era of virtual communications bred a new generation of people that may have all light forms of autism and can easily enjoy solitude. We can't agree or disagree but current trend of "co-working" definitely fits that statement. And giving people more intimate co-working spaces can solve many issues like guys from Zurich based Micasa Lab suggested with their new Personal Space Concept - Cocoon.http://cocoonlife.ch/

Mujjo Touchscreen gloves

Mujjo, famous for developing last winter’s ‘must-have’ touchscreen gloves, managed to improve the fundamental elements of the gloves - the insulation, the aesthetics, the anti-pilling properties and the fit. Introducing the A/W 12-13 touchscreen gloves collection, available in black, natural gray, sandstone, lavender and coral pink. I think the gloves can be an instant solution for later autumn check-ins, runnings and urban scouting.

iCork Case for iPad by Pomm

Portuguese Pomm.Design.Studio has created an iCorkCase with a jaggy modern look made entirely of cork. The POMM - iCorkCase, at first sight, it hides its goal. Elegant and with a modern look, the eyes guess the forms and can’t resist it. Inspired by the merge of geometric shapes, the design is "simple and visually interesting”.

Our purpose was that design should also take in consideration that the transportation and protection of a gadget so important in our daily lives had to be a goal. "We have chosen cork due to its properties: it is durable, versatile and highly resistant to daily use, shock absorber and water resistant. Its modelling is easy, and it’s an ecological and biodegradable material." Pomm.design.studio implemented for the first time a geometric-design that goes beyond the formal visual plan.

“From the beginning we wanted to make something entirely new to revolutionize the standard products currently on the market”. To meet this goal, we have produced several models for the product development, to understand how it would work as a whole, the design was refined until reaching this final stage to meet the requirements of producing such an influential product.

Steve Jobs’ yacht Venus by Phillip Starck

Around this time last year, it was revealed that Steve Jobs had been designing his very own luxury yacht before his death. Jobs had been collaborating with renowned French designer Philippe Starck on the project. On one hand all this news has a taste of bitterness, on the other we'd liked Jobs to overcome all that storms around Apple nowadays right on this beautiful yacht.

I can refer you to read more about the making of cauldron on Dezeen but please watch the film before this.

The Instant Lab

With the love to Instaprint project hence it went unsuccessful on Kickstater we look with a hope on another initiative. It is "The Instant Lab" from The Impossible Project (the guys behind Polaroid and its film resurrection), the mix of instant photography of two decades - analogue and digital or Polaroid Camera and iPhone. Watch it and join on Kickstarter!

The Invisible Bicycle Helmet

We have been following this product since last year from its concept to a real Invisible Bicycle Helmet called "Hödving". Designed by Terese Alstin and Anna Haupt it makes a big steps now on a real market. It's ergonomic, it's practical, it complies with all the safety requirements, and it's also subtle and blends in with what else you are wearing. Worth to mention Invisible Helmet is made for people who prefers good looking to personal safety (yes, you) and especially when riding a bike (have you ever saw a fixed-bike lover with that bulky still safety helmet from a nearby store? No).

Google Web Lab by Bibliotheque

Google Web Lab is a series of interactive digital experiments, brought to life at the London Science Museum. It enables worldwide participation both online and from within the exhibition space, to control machines which explore and demonstrate a range of web technologies. http://vimeo.com/46314040

via http://vimeo.com/45703836

Bibliotheque created the environmental graphics and signage, working as part of the team alongside UniversalDesignStudio and MAP (the research and development design consultancy, founded by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby). The Web Lab website and identity were created by B-Reel, and the machines were built by Tellart.

Traffolyte panels introduce each of the 5 areas, and explain the science behind each experiment: Orchestra, Teleporter, Sketchbot, Data Tracer and the Lab Tag Explorer. Floor graphics aid navigation and visitor flow, helping create the feel of an experimental 'test area'. The exhibition is open at the Science Museum, London until June 2013.
