Architectural Sketches by Adelina Gareeva

March 02, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Illustration, Instagram, Russia, Portfolios, Architecture, 2017

As a two-years drop-out from Architectural department I was totally amazed by the recent discovery of freehand sketches drawn by Adelina Gareeva, a modern student from Kazan (KSUAE). Looking at her drawings makes my head dizzying from the amount of perfect one-dot or 2-dots perspective clusters done with simple pencil. In addition to being an artist, Adelina juggles her time as a model.

Rainy New York City by Karen Woods

February 21, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, USA, Portfolios, 2017

"Artist Karen Woods painted hyperreal images of New York city though the window of a rainy car and all of them had us doing a double-take. The paintings are incredibly detailed and provide an interesting perspective on what it’s like to travel through the streets of the big apple. There’s no cliche cityscape for Woods. She provides us with a new way to look at the city streets, which are beautiful no matter the weather. The light distortion created by the drops of water remove the viewer from the city location and entice us to find out more. "

Maria Menshikova illustrations

February 21, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Illustration, Portfolios, Netherlands, 2017, Art

Residing in Amsterdam, Maria is a young Russia-born illustrator working for advertising and illustrative projects (ex. Russian Post cards). Her personal way of creating artworks takes from the mix of art nouveau and gothic prints. Some of her latest artwork remind me personally the works of French illustrator Vania Zouravliov

Hacked Roomba Robot Paints like Pollock

February 16, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in 2017, Art, Digital Art, Japan, Portfolios

Has no doubts we are close to robot revolution but meanwhile can enjoy things they do while manipulated by people. Japanese artist HYde JII has modified a robotic vacuum cleaner to paint on canvas. He modified the 15-year-old iRobot Roomba last year, which now goes under the name Head-kun (Mr. Head).

He attached tubes and plastic bottles filled with paint to the Roomba and programmed it so it could shuffle about and drizzle paint as it went along. So far it's produced two abstract pieces, Spring Worm Hole (2014) and the rather fetching Spring Starburst (2015).

Drawings by Daan Noppen

February 13, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Netherlands, Portfolios, 2017

Daan Noppen is an international artist mainly working in drawing and photography. He is best known for his realistic larger than life drawings of portraits and bodies. When looking closer at the works one finds mathematic equations in between the pencil strokes that relate to our reality.
His drawings project past, present and future in the now as one image, a parallel reality that we normally cannot see with the naked eye.

Girls&Sweets by Michelle Tanguay

February 12, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Portfolios, Street Art, USA, 2017

Detroit canvas, murals artist and co-founder of Pop-Up Gallery Michelle Tanguay creates life-sized portraits of female using candies and lollipops as a visual weapon of independence.

“Themes change, depending on mood and environment but women are always the leading role. Historically women are often depicted as an accessory, but the lively women that I paint would never allow that to happen.”

Art of Peter Zimmermann

February 07, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in 2017, Art

Peter Zimmerman makes epoxy paintings that explore the visual effects of surface and material through glossy pour-like shapes of rich colours. His amorphous forms prompt endless interpretation, the depth and density of his materials creating visceral effects of shifting light and colour, heightened by layered airbrushing. For source materials, Zimmerman repurposes book covers and old paintings, and uses Photoshop filters to manipulate found images from the Internet into unidentifiable abstractions.

Transcending Boundaries

PACE
January 31, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, United Kingdom, Japan, 2017, Art

Butterflies flap, a wild ocean rages and a waterfall cascades through the space in teamLab’s digital art exhibition, currently on show at Pace London.

In the mind, there are no boundaries between ideas and concepts, they are inherently ambiguous and influence and interact with each other. In order for ideas and concepts to be expressed in the real world it is necessary to have a physical material substance through which they are mediated. Boundaries are created when ideas and concepts are materialized in the real world.

Within the digital domain, art is able to transcend physical and conceptual boundaries. Digital technology allows art to break free from the frame and go beyond the boundaries that separate one work from another. Elements from one work can fluidly interact with and influence elements of the other works exhibited in the same space. In this way, the boundaries between art pieces dissolve.

teamLab (f. 2001, Tokyo, by Toshiyuki Inoko) is an interdisciplinary group of ultra-technologists whose collaborative practice seeks to navigate the confluence of art, technology, design and the natural world. Rooted in the tradition of ancient Japanese Art and contemporary forms of anime, teamLab operates from a distinctly Japanese sense of spatial recognition, investigating human behavior in the information era and proposing innovative models for societal development

An Ultraviolet LED Light from TJOKEEFE

January 27, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Sculpture, 2017

"TJOKEEFE kills it with graphic, angular furniture and objects and the latest release, UV, is a bold triangular light sculpture that hangs on a flat surface or in a corner. A flexible, woven nylon thread is what creates the triangular composition when it’s suspended on the wall. With the ultraviolet LEDs embedded in the powder-coated aluminium bar, the thread becomes its own light source as the ultraviolet light projects onto it, creating the ethereal red and purple, triangular glow."

Napoli Project by Alexey Kondakov

January 26, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Ukraine, Portfolios, Photography, 2017

After enormous success of "Art History in Contemporary Life" photographer Alexey Kondakov was invited to Italy to do an artist-in-residence solo show named "Napoli Project" (organised with the help of ShowDesk). Alexey took the challenge with a high class just because there was no place for a weak response when doing art collages based mainly on Italian masterpieces and on Italian soil.

Balancing between art and illustration a bold graphics of Thomas Hedger is a good reminder that only personal techniques makes every artist unique. Using print, and more over, silk print style with heavy lines and pure forms, rasterised shadows and pop art topics Thomas' works stand out and invite you to move forward by that colourful river of emotions and small stories.
