Ora-Ïto Mutation Exhibition

April 26, 2011 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Design, Events, France, Italy, Portfolios

Later last year world-famous enfant terrible of design Ora-Ïto presented Evo-Mobil for Citroen. And this month in Milan he revealed a second concept of a mobility - "UFO" - a juxtaposed piece of contemporary art and futuristic mobile vehicle.

On the edge of the hypothesis and contemporary art, Ora-Ïto presents hybrid objects associated to the research and innovation department of the dynastic Citroën. Baptized «Evomobil» and “UFO” these two monumental sculptures are the crossing of Citroën’s Icons and a reflection from the past to the future. Based on the process of the evolution, the vison of Ora-Ito combine historic and sociological testimony by putting aside established codes. The iconoclastic artist was not dreaming about another concept car but a genetic transformation to spread an universal message to the car industry through his artistic vision and new directions never investigated before

Sharon Sprung is a Brooklyn based award-winning artist who studied at Cornell, The Art Students League in New York, and the National Academy of Design. Among her biography presentation I found out that she did a master-class in our city's Saint-Petersburg Academy of Art, so this nice connection made me to love her works stronger.

Lee Price paints figurative photo-realist self portraits from a bird's-eye view that are both intriguing and obviously voyeuristic. She peels the skin off a part of women's links to food that straddles a line between being intimate and a little gross. Read full interview on www.dontpaniconline.com and watch images under the cut

Hussein Chalayan Fall 2011: Floating dress

March 04, 2011 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Fashion

Another fashion designer (after Gareth Pugh) that we considered to be out of classic fashion borders - Hussein Chalayan streches his innovation and creativity across the industry of a beauty.

"PARIS–For fall 2011, Hussein Chalayan again presented a film, picking up where he left off last season, exploring Japanese culture within the DNA he’s established over the past ten years. But it’s not the kind of literal Japanese influence you might envision–no obis or kimono sleeves here. This season’s film, Kaikoku, means “open country” in Japanese. “After the period of isolation Sakoku in Japan, the country experienced and openness to Western culture which over the years has influenced the food, fashion, art, architecture and technology while the country has still remained distinctly Japanese,” his line sheets explained." - read more on Fashionista
