Café Saint-Régis on Île Saint-Louis, Paris in Carin Olsson Photography

Few years ago I spotted an awesome photo (Carin Olsson) of Parisian cafe on Tumblr. This year I had a chance to visit Café Saint-Régis on Île Saint-Louis and admire its shabby chick interior designed by famous French decorator Richard Lafond. His studio completed about 50 projects of restaurant interiors in Paris, but still Saint-Regis is my favourite one hence I need to visit them all.

I want to say a little about this photo. It was made by Carin Olsson who spent 4 months in Paris studying language and apparently caught that "l'art de vivre" fever and moved back to the capital of France once she sorted her things in Stockholm on her short return. Today she is working in Paris as a photographer and occasional writer and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. You must check her portfolio online and on Flickr as well as follow her half-million fans Instagram

Comet 67P

I am not into science and astronomy but the new images of Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko shot by Rosetta riding that wild space horse on a 38 km/s speed are just epic. The photos can practically inspire to create something basing on those outer space beauty. Images released by the European Space Agency and can be found on ESA Flickr account. As a bonus you can listen the "song" of the Comet Rosetta’s Plasma Consortium (RPC) has uncovered a mysterious ‘song’ that Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is singing into space. The comet seems to be emitting a ‘song’ in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field in the comet’s environment. It is being sung at 40-50 millihertz, far below human hearing, which typically picks up sound between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. To make the music audible to the human ear, the frequencies have been increased in this recording. Original data credit: ESA/Rosetta/RPC/RPC-MAG. This sonification of the RPC-Mag data was compiled by German composer Manuel Senfft (www.tagirijus.de).

Gareth Pugh Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

When it comes to showcasing Gareth Pugh fashion, I leave all the work behind and sit down to write this in a onebreathe. Hence the new Spring/Summer 2015 collection deeply reminds me the work of Leon Bakst but imagine he met Nosferatu or someone from the dark side of Pagan mythology, deep, dark and captivating. Gareth Pugh caused a stir for S/S 15 by eschewing his usual slot on the Paris Fashion Week schedule and kicking off New York Fashion Week with an immersive live experience, made in collaboration with Lexus. The event featured three short films that combined Pugh’s designs with performances by models, choreographed by Wayne McGregor. Filmmaker and artist Andrew Thomas Huang served as creative director. SHOWstudio is proud to exclusively release the films - Megalith, Chaos, and Ascension - alongside a gallery of images that show off Pugh's S/S 15 collection in detail.

Sainsbury's Christmas 2014

Just in time of celebrating the 100th Anniversary of The First World War, UK largest retail chain Sainsbury released its beautiful cinematography aimed to remember people about peace. It's totally sick that we still don't have it on Earth.

Petros Koublis

Athens based photographer Petro Koublis explores the land that lies behind the edge of the city, outside the invisible borders of the extended metropolitan area. "This is an alternate state in parallel time, where silence seems to carry inside it a waiting, patiently whispering a long forgotten language. There is no beauty that is timeless but the timelessness of nature can reflect a new direction, maybe even a hope." petros-koublis1

BENCHMA(R)C by Klaus Geiger

Old is gold, as proven by German designer Klaus Geiger, who took a few of Apple’s Power Mac G5 and turned them into a series of stylish, modern furniture. Called ‘BENCHMA(®)C, the innovative collection features desks, moving cabinets and other storage compartments. Geiger was inspired to create the series as he felt that the “designs were too good to be disposed”, so he decided to add wood and glass to re-purpose them. via

Under by Kevin Frilet

Nicolas Jaar collaborator Valentin Stip creates an ethereal score for director-to-watch Kevin Frilet’s "Under" "For his first foray into making a short film, Kevin Frilet did not plump for the easy road. He shot Under in a pool within the suburbs of Paris, casting friends, family and acquaintances aged seven to 77, most of whom had never dived before"

"The brief was high-concept, low budget. “I wanted to create a liquid universe where time is suspended, space infinite and depth unknown,” says Frilet, whose filmmaking mentorship has included stints as Assistant Director on Christopher Nolan’s Inception and Luc Besson’s Lucy. "Like the white desert in the George Lucas film THX 1138, with no border."

AKQA - Clerkenwell Offices

We are obsessed with awesome interior examples and here is the new one to explore. Amos and Amos have recently completed the design of a new office in Clerkenwell, London for global ideas and innovation company AKQA. Amos and Amos have referenced London’s historic docks and warehouses for the interiors of new London offices designed for global ideas and innovation agency AKQA. Amos and Amos rose to the challenge of working with a client with exceptionally high standards and a willingness to take risks in order to achieve something original. The result is a richly layered and textured space where almost everything has been custom made – a unique working environment for AKQA in the world of often standardised office design.

Ajaz Ahmed, Founder and CEO of AKQA said: “Amos and Amos have created a soulful new home for our team in London. AKQA’s new space encourages collaboration, creativity and agility. It is a workspace where creativity abounds and represents the adaptive and flexible way in which our teams create.”

Overlooking the Jungfernstieg shopping street and the picturesque Binnenalster Lake, the Café Ferdinand which was commissioned by Vodafone, also occupies the first floor of the company’s new flagship store in the city.
