Nooka App

Futuristic watches producer NOOKA released a nice time watching iPhone application. NOOKA presents a graphical representation of time that transcends the linguistics and math that make telling time—creating a truly intuitive experience to tell time, set alarms, and visualise world-time/timezones.

Social Milestones

Yesterday I got a message from Sam Morril at Vimeo saying that our Designcollector TV channel is one of Vimeo's featured channels on Apple TV and on Vimeo brand iPhone app. And what a coincidence we just step over 3000 hand-picked Creative Motion Pictures there with 2500 subscribers.

And that's not all! Just few days ago our Facebook hit by 8000 follower and Twitter passed 10000 message. Just this year we started Instagram account (@designcollector) and mocking a new project under the hood to celebrate our 9th year online this April.

Join us online and get the latest cherry picked creative shots.

Vectors in Plywood by Aske Sicksystems

Russian illustrator and artist Aske Sicksystems synthesizes elements of Soviet era cubism, constructivism and futurism through vector art into semi-sculptural works of art. His latest project is a "Sneaker Head," so to speak: a cross between a Nike Air Force 1 Duckboot and a wolf's head, executed as a painted plywood artwork for the Nike Store Moscow.

Also check another Aske's plywood installation created for International Festival of Contemporary Music and Media Arts MIGZ.

A Letterpress Film

South Devon-based filmmaker Danny Cooke has documented the dying art of letterpress in a short film titled ‘Upside Down, Left To Right: A Letterpress Film’. Beautifully crafted, the under 8-min documentary showcases one of the only few remaining movable-type printing workshops in the UK, located at Plymouth University.

Studio Lin

Before opening Studio Lin, Alex Lin laid the foundation for his own design practice by collaborating with some of the field’s greatest minds. After receiving an MFA in graphic design from Yale University, Alex spent six years at the design firm 2×4 and three years as a partner at Default.

The studio’s approach is founded on a desire to explore new territory through challenging collaborations with creative visionaries in the fields of architecture, industrial design, art and fashion. Behind every Studio Lin design is a highly defined rationale but not a singular style. The common denominator is a fresh, modern sensibility that eschews the overtly trendy in favor of lasting impact. http://studiolin.org/

Sculptures by Unmask

"These figurative human and equine sculptures are by a trio of Beijing-based artists who go by the name Unmask Group. Liu Zhan, Kuang Jun and Tan Tianwei met while at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and have been producing sculptural work together since 2001." "These seemingly incomplete stainless steel works show figures in a state of dissolution or perhaps just the opposite, emergence. Regardless, the delicate lines and smooth curves left by the absence of materials make them appear almost sensual. These particular pieces were on display at H.T. Gallery through last month." via This is Colossal
