OFFF Barcelona 2019 Main Titles

May 09, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Motioncollector, OFFF

Chris Bjerre was invited by OFFF Festival to create official Main Titles for 2019 head event went in Barcelona last month

In a parallel universe our infrastructure and power grid has collapsed. All lines of communication have broken down. In the absence of influence, organic life has started to evolve.

This film is meditation on the creative path and how we as creatives often need to go through hardship and discomfort in order to evolve and grow.

Supernova - Art film by Maxim Zhestkov

May 07, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Digital Art, Motioncollector, Russia, Portfolios

Supernova is an experimental 4K art film directed and designed by Maxim Zhestkov and made in Zhestkov.Studio

“Everything around and inside us was conceived in a huge explosion of a star billions of years ago… and, probably, recycled from other matrices myriad times. In this eternal carousel of matter, particles gather, form complicated structures and then burst into all directions fusing atoms together and producing new elements and points of view, new colours and patterns of perception. “

“Explosions could be perceived as a destructive force and the process of tearing previously formed matter apart and, therefore, could have negative connotations; however, fundamentally, only the process of breaking familiar structures and rearranging them into new, more sophisticated shapes could kindle new meanings and ideas and be the main creative force forming the future.”

OFFF 2019 Open Film

May 03, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, OFFF, Motioncollector

Our second encounter with OFFF Festival was in 2009 where Prologue then lead by Ilya Abulkhanov presented event’s Main Titles in a sci-fi post-soviet “Kin-dza-dza” way. Little did we know that 10 years later, now Mill+ director, Ilya, will be invited to present 15-minutes “ARXIV”, a post human drama and indeed a continuation of original 2009 short movie.

ARXIV is an immersive sci-fi family drama is set in two time frames: the deep future, that is left with no future, and the near future, that will bring about the eventual dystopian collapse of society. Protagonist Lew Aron survives both time frames and is set to discover a potential outlet to confront his innermost desire, or what’s left of it.

Now in its 19th year, OFFF is regarded as one of the world’s most influential creativity festivals. OFFF consists of three-days of conferences, workshops, activities, and performances. It takes place in Barcelona annually, before appearing around the world as ‘OFFF on Tour’ with the next happens in Moscow

Filtrate

April 22, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Motioncollector

A new short film titled FILTRATE imagines a future completely saturated with technology, where post-human figures interact using rune-like symbols on immersive social media platforms. The film, directed by Mishka Kornai, was created in the public spaces of Montréal’s underground Metro transit system.

“If people retreat into smaller and more idiosyncratic groups, what will the evolutionary trajectory of our society look like? As social groups diverge further and further over the course of generations, when does humanity cease to be just one species?”

Kokosmos by Anna Radchenko

Kokosmos is a purely visual, experimental piece inspired by space and our fascination with the unknown. A surreal fantasy, aimed to extend our perception of reality by letting us wonder over the existence of a higher being and our connection with her.

Kokosmos-6.gif
Kokosmos-5.gif

Shot in Moscow by the award-winning director and photographer Anna Radchenko, Kokosmos is a tribute to Russia’s infatuation with space.

Somewhere between a fashion film, a music piece and an experimental video, Kokosmos embraces reality and extends it through magical realism by visually answering the question: what if? The video is Radchenko’s first piece combining CGI with real footage, a direction that she is looking to explore with her future productions.

Kokosmos is a collaboration with model Yana Dobroliubova, recognised for her striking and ethereal looks which break away from traditional beauty standards. Inspired by Dobroliubova’s unearthly aesthetic, as well as Japanese manga artist Shintaro Kago, Radchenko expresses our constant need to explore and search by focusing on the concept of the all-seeing eye.

The music and sound was custom made specifically for this piece. Collaborating with creative music and sound design duo Playhead, they worked with the London-based singer songwriter Alyusha Chagrin to create an otherworldly-sounding language to fit the scenario.

Similarly, the choice of clothing and make-up is also meant to fit with post-soviet space theme; Radchenko brings in elements of folklore by specifically selecting Russian fashion designers and sticking to a neon color palette featuring bright shades of green and purple.

““Growing up in post soviet Russia I’d be constantly dreaming about space, the unknown and what was out there, almost like an unknown entity we were trying to reach out to. With Kokosmos I wanted to express exactly that: my vision of what space and this god-like presence would look and feel like”

FREIGHT

March 20, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Digital Art, Motioncollector, Serbia

A story of weight within us

Director Sava Zivkovic - “FREIGHT started out as a pitch for a client project. We were tasked with creating a short film that could demonstrate the capabilities of an upcoming real-time ray tracing technology. There were no creative limitations, everything regarding the story or the art direction was left to us, which at time seemed like a dream project finally coming to fruition.

We’ve assembled the core team of longtime friends and collaborators, Milan NIkolic, Nebojsa Jez and myself, and developed the pitch for the project, consisting of the script, character concept art and a detailed previz, as well as some keyframe renders. A pretty strong start for any project. Unfortunately due to many variables the client couldn’t proceed with the project, which left us with a completely developed idea, one that we felt really strongly about, but without  client funding to produce it.”

Robotic art projects and 3-D billboard installations by Sila Sveta are attracting New Yorkers to Times Square

“Times Square is contemporarily known as the one-stop destination for tourists and the one spot New Yorkers avoid with more vigor than jury duty. Legendary Studio 54 founder and luxury hotelier Ian Schrager (@ianschrager), however, is seducing New Yorkers back to the area with the commissioning of two public-facing art projects located on the Jumbotron billboard on the corner of 47th and Broadway in celebration of the opening of The Times Square EDITION (@timessquareedition) “

“The new billboard project features a glowing display of urban media art that fuses classic depictions of art and nature with modern technology. Schrager is collaborating with Sila Sveta, the New York-based multimedia design studio that has produced installations for the MET Gala, to bring back the sophisticated glitz and high romance that Times Square was once known for in the 1940s and 50s. What is now blocks of fast food chains and naked cowboys was once a destination for New Yorkers themselves, lined with nightclubs where one could spin to the sounds of Doo-Wop at the start of the evening then end it with a nightcap accompanied by Frank Sinatra.”

Unacceptable Behavior

March 12, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, France, Motioncollector, Portfolios

Presenting a film inspired by thoughts from actress - Destiny Nolen (@miss_destiny_nolen). Directed by Clément Oberto, Unacceptable Behavior is a light poem about youth and loneliness. It is narrated by Georgia Feroce and guided by a subtle and sensitive score, composed by John Tejada (@johntejadaofficial). Clément Oberto created a film which follows a woman on the edge, someone who feels too much, a fragile and strong soul, always on the verge between bursting into tears or into generous and beautiful smiles.

“Our heroine wanders through the sublime landscapes of the American West. More than a portrait, this is a generation testimony, solar and vibrant. The story of young adults ultra-connected and yet still alone, victims of their hypersensitivity, trying to find harmony in this delicate balance between remains of childhood and promises of adulthood.”
— Clément Oberto

Clément Oberto is French director and producer living in Los Angeles. His work revolves mostly around the feminine figure in music videos, commercials and Art films.

A collaborative work lead by art director Vitaly Grossmann together with Superdesigners from Moscow, CG artist Moritz Schwin, Vincent Schwenk and music producer Jürgen Branz, made for trade show in Germany IMAT-uve

“Imat-uve approached us to create a playful material world for a trade show in Germany. Imat’s design department is not only in charge for creating and designing textures, it’s also scanning it for a broader purpose in-house. As we love to work with textures and always challenge us to find the right balance between reality and abstraction, we were more than happy to develop shapes, spaces and colours where the textures become alive. Nearly every texture was scanned and provided by Imat’s design department.”

Pause Fest 2019 - A New Hope

February 05, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in Agencies, Advertising, Digital Art, Motioncollector, Russia, Australia, Events, 2019

A collaboration between Russian post-production studio LOOP and number of talented artists resulted as a motion reel for the Pause Fest 2019 starting this days in Melbourne.

’A New Hope' is a challenging metaphor for everyone affected by the tech age that still considers some developments today as normal in our culture, traditions and society. We are not programmed well enough to foresee what the exponential technology can do to our society. How much are we going to pay for all bad decisions that we are making today? ‘A New Hope’ digs deep into our worst nightmares and what could happen if we loose control over those exponential tech advances. This video depicts how popularity mixed with power can easily transform our society into unpleasant and dangerous place. We have a high hope that our collective consciousness will drive us to a much brighter, safer, happier, inclusive and prosperous place.

Undecember by Gentle Monster

January 17, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in Advertising, Digital Art, Motioncollector, 2019

Gentle Monster eyewear released an epic promo campaign by imagining Earth lost its sense of anxiety or hope, leaving the human race to resort to its most basic instincts of survival.

People believing in the power and strength of collective groups join together on what is the only way of transportation in this lost world. Witness the confident thoughts of self-conscious displayed in “Collective behavior”.

Gentle Monster’s ‘13’ Campaign sets place in a world where the moon shifts out of place and axis, slowly floating away from Earth creating the 13th month, Undecember. Animals start to act differently and people develop a dependency on either religion or technology. The changes in climate spark a split between anxiety and hope. Gentle Monster illustrates a message of hope brought from the insight and imagination spawned from the new world.
