Miriam Elia's new take on a 1960s Ladybird book. Peter, Jane and Mummy go to a gallery and learn about sex, death and contemporary art. She successfuly ran first thousand prints through Kickstarter project but it is the Ladybird book publisher Penguin, rather than the art world, which isn't so happy about the project. We hope she resolve the legal issues this spring and we will have a chance to order the book from her website.

Advert-free photographic journal, The Quarterly, seeks funding on Kickstarter for third issue The voluntary team behind the award-winning photography publication, The Quarterly, has returned to Kickstarter to raise the final funds needed for a larger print run for the third issue of the magazine.
The advert-free publication has developed a large following online and the respect of the photography industry in its 9-month existence and this final round of funding is “crucial” to its ongoing success, said the journal’s editor, Sanj Sahota.
We’ve grown so much in the last few months and now we’re finally at a point where we have the audience loyalty to print loads more copies but we need a small amount of funding to get there,
Each issue of The Quarterly is given one theme and professional photographers from around the world are invited to propose ideas and creative interpretations on each theme, Sanj explained.

UVA explore light and movement with great new installation - Momentum
“My first question was how can we curve light,” Matt Clark of United Visual Artists says standing in the studio’s new installation at London’s Barbican. Momentum – which opens today – consists of “12 pendulums that activate light and sound as they swing” but that doesn’t come close to explaining the brilliant experience it provides.
"A new fashion photography book by London-based image maker Sylwana Zybura (a.k.a. Madame Peripetie) is just about to be released by German publisher Seltmann+Söhne. Titled ‘Dream Sequence’, the book contains a series of portraits of imaginary characters, whose features are replaced by flowers or other objects while their bodies are covered with bizarre garments and colours. The book which evolved out of a long-term photography project, has won several awards (including the Double Gold at PX3 2011 in Paris, and an honourable mention at the International Photography Awards 2013 in New York), and has been compiled for costume designers, fashion stylists and everyone who is interested in character design and image building in general." via Yatzer

Grand Kind Haiyan Print Auction is a charity auction organised by Grand Neue that aims to raise funds for the Disaster Emergency Committee in support of their current relief efforts in the Philippines. This charity print auction has secured close to 100 great art prints donated by leading contemporary illustrators and designers including Mr Bingo, Patternity, Hvass&Hannibal, the Peepshow Collective and Nous Vous.All auctions will be ending over the course of this week from Tuesday (10 Dec) to Saturday (14 Dec).
The Gourmand food and culture journal commissioned London-based designer Gemma Tickle and photographer Aaron Tilley to create five different settings made of five different types of pasta, paying homage to Italian architecture. The final result is a photo series which depicts the brittle beauty of structural and decorative architectural elements.
When I was 5 years old I clearly remember a guy that was looking for us kids in a kidergarten. He owned an Edge-a-Sketch (actually its Soviet version called "Magic Screen") tool and did portraits while we had a siesta. That was impressive and realistic sketch portraits of his girlfriend (our nurse obviously) and I was wondering why he can do that and someone else cannot. That's how I got close to the definition "talent".I truly believe that no tools are the magic wand in the hand of creator but his talent and skills are. For trained oil painter and illustrator from UK Kyle Lambert an iPad is a tool and please have look what he did using only fingers and application Procreate. A hyper-realistic portrait of actor Morgan Freeman. Even after watching the video several times, you probably still won't believe that he created something so realistic using the same device your niece uses to play Angry Birds, so check out some bonus videos below for further proof.

You might have seen recent buzz about Lady Gaga's life-size sculpture made in collaboration of Scott Eaton and Jeff Koons. Creepy but that's pop culture. Let's switch to the latest work of Scott - Hercules XIII tablet stand - the second of its type after "The Venus of Cupertino". It features oversized Hercules (hence we call oatmeal in Russia by this greek name of the famous half-god) holding any tablet with an outstanding grace. If you like them both you will definitely appreciate their collide in Venus Lamp shown below :)

The unofficial opening of British Christmas was made by John Lewis stores with their heart touching advertisement "The Bear & The Hare". When I first seen it I could not imagine that it was done by hands. Elliot Dear and Yves Geleyn of Blinkink were the duo charged by Adam & Eve DDB with bringing the ideas to life and you get a nice sense of the painstaking stop-motion process they went through over a period of several months. Guys proved that everything what was made by hand and heart has absolutely different impact on a viewer. Watch the movie and making of below.
