Carmel House

July 22, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Architecture, USA, Agencies

Located in the middle of five acres of land, providing plenty of privacy, sits Carmel House, in the northern California region. It is a hefty 530m² single-story residence designed by renowned architect Jim Jennings for a retired couple. It is a love letter to modern architecture; a fully realised project looking back to stark geometry as the main conceptual argument.

Anamorphic Installations by Ben Fearnley

June 13, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Digital Art, USA

Anamorphic Art Installations is the outcome of Ben Fearnley experimenting with merging physical objects and iconic, bold graphics. When the artwork is viewed exactly from a front on perspective all graphics/logos/typography align in perfect harmony. Each piece was based on and inspired by a different theme: Jordan Jumpman, New York, Fashion Wars, Gaming, Peace and Coca Cola.

One Thousand Stories by JR

June 12, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, France, Art, Motioncollector, USA

The Chronicles of San Francisco, a video mural of 1206 San Franciscans @sfmoma 📸 @marc @camille

A post shared by JR (@jr) on May 24, 2019 at 2:41pm PDT

The film directed by Tasha van Zandt is currently exhibited at SFMOMA alongside of JR’s mural. After a first mural in Les Bosquets, a neighbourhood near Paris where he has worked for many years, JR chose San Francisco. A city very rich in contrasts, whose recent history could be told in a powerful way through a mural. Since the visit of Diego Rivera in 1931, San Francisco has a long muralist tradition. The city features immense innovation and wealth as well as one of the highest rates of homelessness in the country. In, 2018, JR and his team spent a month roaming the city of San Fransisco, parking their 53' trailer truck in 24 different locations, to capture anyone who wished to participate, directly from the streets. As a result, over 1,200 people have been filmed, photographed and interviewed; each person choosing the way they are represented in the fresco.

Dalí Lives

Dali Museum
May 11, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Art, Digital Art, USA

“I believe in general in death, but in the death of Dali, absolutely not.” Salvador Dalí

Just in time of his 115 Anniversary, St.Petersburg (Florida, US) museum of Salvador Dalí brought him back alive using AI technologies

“The exhibition, called Dalí Lives, was made in collaboration with the ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners (GS&P), which made a life-size re-creation of Dalí using the machine learning-powered video editing technique. Using archival footage from interviews, GS&P pulled over 6,000 frames and used 1,000 hours of machine learning to train the AI algorithm on Dalí’s face. His facial expressions were then imposed over an actor with Dalí’s body proportions, and quotes from his interviews and letters were synced with a voice actor who could mimic his unique accent, a mix of French, Spanish, and English.”

“With 45 minutes of newly created footage and thousands of combinations, each visitor gets a different experience. There are scenes that open with him reading the newspaper, with an overlay of the current front page of The New York Times; if it’s raining, he’ll comment on the weather”

Pelle Cass Photography

May 10, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Digital Art, Photography, Portfolios, USA

“A photographer and digital artist, Cass combines hundreds of singular moments shot in the street and other public locations. In his photos, made in locations ranging from nondescript city streets to college sports arenas, bodies battle for attention, perfectly stopped and coordinated. Cass’s ongoing series Selected People began in 2008 in Brookline, Massachusetts, where he lives”

“To make the compositions, I put my camera on a tripod, take up to a thousand pictures, and compile selected figures into a final photograph that is kind of a still time-lapse. I change nothing — not a pixel. I simply select what to keep and what to omit. It all happened precisely as you see it, just not at the same time”

Andrew Hem

April 23, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Illustration, Portfolios, USA

“Los Angeles-based artist Andrew Hem (previously) paints stylised scenes of solitary figures caught in moments of motion, introspection, and reverence. While integrated into their surroundings through carefully modulated color palettes, the figures’ floating poses and distant expressions suggest a dreamlike state. In an artist statement, Hem cites an early interest in graffiti as informing his current narrative style, which he creates with a combination of gouache, oil, and acrylic paint.”

RORSCHACH by Cj Hendry

Dumbo
April 09, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019, Art, USA, Portfolios

Hyper-realistic artist, CJ Hendry, is bringing her 6th solo exhibition: RORSCHACH to Brooklyn through April 21. Known for her iconic black and white pen drawings of pop culture objects, is furthering her exploration of color and abstract forms.

“I think what makes Rorschach tests so intriguing is that, unlike questionnaires and other language-based approaches to personality assessment, you are presented with a visual task. There is a fascinating correlation of science and art, objectivity and subjectivity, ultimately this series is the science of artistic response as the key to personality”
— Cj Hendry

During the exhibit, guests will navigate through a 3,000 square foot bounce house that features padded walls and floors to feel like an old school insane asylum. The bounce house has taken over a year to plan, cut and sew to fit the Dumbo space perfectly. With 6 blowers standing 14-foot-high, the bounce house can accommodate up to 100 people at a time.

Robotic art projects and 3-D billboard installations by Sila Sveta are attracting New Yorkers to Times Square

“Times Square is contemporarily known as the one-stop destination for tourists and the one spot New Yorkers avoid with more vigor than jury duty. Legendary Studio 54 founder and luxury hotelier Ian Schrager (@ianschrager), however, is seducing New Yorkers back to the area with the commissioning of two public-facing art projects located on the Jumbotron billboard on the corner of 47th and Broadway in celebration of the opening of The Times Square EDITION (@timessquareedition) “

“The new billboard project features a glowing display of urban media art that fuses classic depictions of art and nature with modern technology. Schrager is collaborating with Sila Sveta, the New York-based multimedia design studio that has produced installations for the MET Gala, to bring back the sophisticated glitz and high romance that Times Square was once known for in the 1940s and 50s. What is now blocks of fast food chains and naked cowboys was once a destination for New Yorkers themselves, lined with nightclubs where one could spin to the sounds of Doo-Wop at the start of the evening then end it with a nightcap accompanied by Frank Sinatra.”
