Reading Between the Lines - Church by Gijs Van Vaerenbergh

Belgian architect group, Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, built a church in Belgium that looks completely different from any side of view

From others, the structure reveals itself to be something else entirely - a building that's almost entirely see through. The project, named "Reading Between the Lines," is a composition of 100 layers of stacked steel, that are equidistantly staggered in a way that illusively change in appearance based on where the viewer is standing.

"Conceived in collaboration with Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones for Creative Review’s Annual Creative Awards. The capture side of the project was a one day shoot in Holborn studios London with FBFX Digital scanning, Frank Benhamou styling, Rebecca Louise Law creating floral installations, Raphael Salley on hair direction, and Ninni Nummela on makeup. An original music composition by Salvador Breed and Stijn Van Beek took a couple of weeks, as did the editing by Steve Ackroyd at Final Cut London."

Gravitant by Cinta Vidal Agulló

With this work, Catalonian artist Cinta Vidal Agulló (1982, Barcelona) wants to show that we live in one world, but we live in it in very different ways, playing with everyday objects and spaces, placed in impossible ways to express that many times, the inner dimension of each one of us does not match the mental structures of those around us.Check her exhibition at Miscelanea, Barcelna this week

"I do not remember the last time I left home without a notebook to draw what I see, notebooks where I try to reflect the complexity of human relationships from different perspectives. I never wanted to commit to a single style, even if that's the common thing to do: each new project, painting, illustration, client, idea... is thoroughly analysed and after that process, what should be told and how it should be told will arise."

Architectural Density in Hong Kong

With seven million people, Hong Kong is the 4th most densely populated places in the world. However, plain numbers never tell the full story. In his "Architecture of Density" photo series, German photographer Michael Wolf (previously) explores the jaw-dropping urban landscapes of Hong Kong. He rids his photographs of any context, removing any sky or horizon line from the frame and flattening the space until it becomes a relentless abstraction of urban expansion, with no escape for the viewer’s eye. Infinite and haunting.
