A Corrupt Nature by Maciek Jasik

"Las Vegas expands upon these myths by serving as the symbol of conquered Nature, a city where casinos rise like mountains, each borrowing from the fabled Venice, Paris, New York, ancient Egypt and Rome. Along with Nature, time and place have been overcome; this is a total victory where anything is possible—a template for cities like Dubai or Abu Dhabi. In ‘A Corrupt Nature’ our traditional viewpoint of Las Vegas is flipped. Our focus is sets of lonely, forgotten trees and strange piles of detritus resembling pyramids, the casinos far in the background. Immediately, we’re reminded of the barren landscape that preceded our arrival. Through the use of color, these elements transcend their ordinary appearance and become symbols of Nature’s inherent power and endurance, patiently outlasting eras and species."

Sean Mundy Photography

Sean Mundy (born 1991, Montréal, Canada) creates conceptual imagery through photography and digital manipulation. Working through self-doubt and questions of identity, Sean constructs austere, yet neutral and distant scenes of palpable tension and uncertainty. With a subtle, minimal approach he aims to disrupt, select from, and delete classical narrative formula to form scenarios that are reliant on subjective associations.

Sculptures by Tamsin van Essen

"British ceramicist Tamsin van Essen is fascinated by what she describes as the “the fragile boundary between attraction and repulsion,” a place where tension is created by the visible and the obscured. For her Erosion series Essen created layered blocks of alternating black and white porcelain which she then sandblasted to mimic biological forms similar to a parasitic virus in the process of devouring a host. Photo Collages by Lola Dupre

"Lola Dupre manipulates photographs sans photoshop, cutting and pasting them into new images entirely by hand. Last time we covered her on the blog, she had taken a break from her figurative works to concentrate on monochromatic, Op Art-inspired abstract designs. But with her latest body of work, Dupre has returned to portraiture, this time unveiling a new body of work in full color. Apart from her personal projects, she recently created a fashion editorial for the Spanish fashion magazine Vein using her signature style". via Hi-Fructose
