Fake Brands by REILLY

April 20, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Advertising, Digital Art, Fashion, Graphic Design, Portfolios, United Kingdom, 2017

Working under REILLY name a London-based, Scottish-born graphic designer and art director who for several years now, has been toying cheerily with the logos which we see day in, day out – reworking them with fashion’s greatest mainstays. Given the current proliferation of fake news and high-low collaborations, Reilly saw the fascination with his playful subversion of fashion branding as an opportunity to take things even further, and continued sharing his tongue-in-cheek combinations with the world.

Cristina Burns

April 18, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Portfolios, Italy, 2017, Glitch

Cristina Burns is a photographer and a mixed media artist. Her work is characterised by juxtaposition, where opposing elements such as candies, toys, and flowers are fused to anatomical parts and insects, often blurring the extremely thin lines between fantasy and reality, purity and sin, life and death.

This multiplicity of elements are meticulously arranged to create her surrealistic compositions, then she photographs the assemblage, digitally enhance and prints in a limited number of copies, the resulting print is the only record of the artist's process.

Human After All by Jan Kriwol and Markos R. Kay

April 17, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Portfolios, Photography, 2017

Human After All, a collaboration between artists Jan Kriwol and Markos R. Kay, juxtaposes CGI recreations of the human circulatory system with images of urban landscapes

For the series, Kriwol collaborated with London-based digital artist Markos Kay. “I described my vision to few CGI artists and all of them gave up,” he says. “When I described my idea to Markos he said ‘okay’ straight away. He then developed the technique for creating our guy and proposed his form and texture.”

Andoni Beristain

April 10, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Graphic Design, Portfolios, Spain, Photography, 2017

"Andoni Beristain is a photographer and a Creative-Art Director. His shirts are famous, he thinks in the shower, he dislikes heat, he's thorough, symmetrical, colourful and even though he uses humour, he works very seriously. He also likes irony. He's Basque, lives in Barcelona and he knows how to do stuff properly".

Pierre Kiandjan Art

April 05, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, France, Portfolios, 2017

As Pierre Kiandjan is selecting color mixes, he aims to create illusion of motion, space, and temperature. The challenge consists in gathering simple shapes within complicated blendings. His pieces reveal a clear use of color shades and broken lines. His main influences include futuristic pieces of architecture invented by Mœbius, radiances of light diffracted by Barbara Kasten's mirrors, living compositions sculpted by Jean Arp, and rhythmic gracefulness drawn by Victor Vasarely.

His Parisian studio answers to design needs from clients belonging to a wide spectrum of sectors: Universal Music, Warner Music, Marie Claire magazine, Le Journal de la Maison magazine, Alex Gopher, Morgane Groupe, Album Surf manufacturing company...

INORI Prayer - Real-time Face Projection Mapping

April 03, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Japan, Portfolios, Motioncollector, 2017

Nobumichi Asai (previously) released a new experiences with real-time face projection mapping

INORI (prayer) Super High Speed Face Mapping (1000fps) Making https://vimeo.com/210565827 This project is achieved as collaborative work between AYABAMBI,TOKYO, Ishikawa Watanabe Lab, The University of Tokyo and WOW, responding the call for collaboration by Nobumichi Asai (WOW). Staff Nobumichi Asai [Creative Director | Technical Director - WOW] Shingo Abe [CG Director - WOW] Atsushi Yoshimura [Programmer - WOW] Ayaka Motoyoshi [Assistant Producer - WOW] Eiji Tanigawa [Director | Editor - TOKYO] Senzo Ueno [Director of Photography - TOKYO] Toshiyuki Takei / Shinya Masuda [Producer - TOKYO] Minami Chiwaki / Yuma Yoshimura / Kohei Takayama [Production Manager - TOKYO] Suzuko Ohgaki [Making Director - TOKYO] Aya Sato [Choreographer] AyaBambi [Cast] Oi-chan[Management] Shootings Tomorio Takahashi [Gaffer] Hisashi Morikawa / Mie Inaba / Akihiko Imai [Light Assistant] Takashi Ideguchi [Camera 1st Assistant] Shibuya Hiromi / Fujii Ryosuke [Camera 2nd Assistant] Setsu Fukushima / Ryosuke Taniguchi [Music - Ongakushitsu Inc.] Yosuke Nagao [Music Composer] Yasuo Fukuda [Colorist] Ryota Abe [Online Editor] Mizuki Kawano [Mixer - TAIYO KIKAKU co.,ltd] Special Thanks Yoshihiro Watanabe [Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory,University of Tokyo] Masatoshi Ishikawa [Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory,University of Tokyo] Tomoaki Teshima [Exvision] TOKYO ELECTRON DEVICE LIMITED Takeshi Yuasa / Kiwamu Sumino / Hiroshi Watase /Toru Yamashita Atsuko Kushima / Tomoaki Kiguchi www.nobumichiasai.com - - - - - - The director, Tanigawa (TOKYO) made a proposal for the theme of “Life.” First, the soundtrack was composed according along the theme. The creative director, WOW’s Technical Director, Asai and the CG Director, Abe was inspired by the music and then made face mapping work. Aya Sato designed choreography. The crew of TOKYO, which Tanigawa directs, completed the project by making the video work. The music brought Asai the image of “the radioactive.” The destructive force of the radioactive could cause “death,” “suffering,” and “sorrow.” And “prayers” could overcome them. These subjects infuse AYABAMBI’s powerful performance. Their performance crushes and conquer black tears, skulls and the Heart Sutra. We built up the concept during the production and Abe designed animation for face mapping. There was a big challenge in technical aspects. We realized the new mapping system that allows us to follow intense performances by using the latest 1,000 fps projector, DynaFlash(*1) and a super speed sensor. It is very new and it had not been done before. Projected images become part of their skin and they transform their faces. At the beginning of our development, there was an issue, AYABAMBI would loose freedom of performances if we accelerated the tracking speed. Asai, Yoshimura (WOW), Lecturer Watanabe and Teshima (EXVISION) explored how we could keep the tracking speed securing the freedom of performances, taking three months of trial and error to reduce a few milliseconds. And we finally developed this system(*2). AYABAMBI is a dance unit who is internationally acclaimed working with Madonna and high fashion brands. TOKYO is an international award winning video production and famous for videos and commercial films employing technologies. Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, the University of Tokyo focuses on the study of the innovative computer vision. This was an exciting opportunity that these talents met WOW, which has amazed the world with tech art like face mapping and VFX. *1 “DynaFlash” is developed jointly by Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, the University of Tokyo and is commercialized by Tokyo Electron Device Limited. *2 For tracking hands, we use the dynamic projection mapping technology developed by Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, the University of Tokyo. For tracking faces, we use the face mapping technology developed by the visual design studio, WOW inc.

About the Work This work was made as a side project to ‘kagami / real-time face generator.’ It can also be seen as a continuation of the real-time face tracking/ projection mapping project ‘Connected Colors,’ which used the colors of the natural world as its theme. As with ‘kagami’, the theme for this work is the beauty of nature. The Japanese word ‘kachofugetsu’ is a compound derived from flower (ka), bird (cho), wind (fu), and moon (getsu), and is intended to evoke the beauty, diversity and harmony of Japan’s natural treasures. Humans once lived as a part of nature, leading spiritual lives in the midst of its bracing aesthetic. Through the medium of electric make-up art, this work encapsulates the idea that this natural beauty contains a set of aesthetic values and a sense of identity of which Japan ought to be proud. In addition to existing technologies, this work introduces a newly designed 4K/240P projector in order to further improve the delicate feel of the skin and make-up and the sense of dynamic motion. Nobumichi Asai (WOW) acted as creative and technical director for ‘kagami’ and ‘Kacho Fugetsu,’ overseeing the planning and development of the project. Noboru Tomizawa, who also collaborated on ‘Connected Colors’, oversaw the makeup art. Beautiful makeup art provides a base over which WOW’s CG animation is projected to evoke the vivacity and motion of nature. Music was provided by hatis noit, using a tonal palette exclusively composed of sounds from nature. Using sounds from her native Hokkaido, the sound of the wind over the plains, running water, bird song etc., hatis noit creates a sound-scape drawn from her own memories. Staff 【Project Member】 Media Artist : Nobumichi Asai [WOW] CG Artist : Shingo Abe [WOW] Make-Up Artist : Noboru Tomizawa [CUBE Management Office] - - - - - Creative Director : Nobumichi Asai [WOW] Producer : Shinichi Saeki [WOW] Project Manager : Ayaka Motoyoshi [WOW] Director : Shingo Abe [WOW] CG Designer : Tsutomu Miyajima [WOW], Ryo Kitabatake [WOW] Technical Director : Nobumichi Asai [WOW] , Atsushi Yoshimura [WOW] Director of Photography, Colorist : Takatoshi Suzuki Gaffer:Seiichi Iwamaru Movie Retoucher : Masanori Obe [foton inc.] Projector Engineer : Tetsuya Fujii [Cinefocus], Masaki Morita [Cinefocus], Masaya Kamino [Cinefocus] Stylist : DAN Music & Vocalist : hatis noit Model : Nanami [FLOS inc.] 【Special Thanks】 PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE foton inc. Elena Kulikova Photography

March 20, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Photography, USA, Portfolios, Fashion, 2017

Elena Kulikova immersed herself in a world of commercial photography as a model while simultaneously experimenting on her own in her 20s. Self-taught but mentored by well known photographers, Elena launched her photographic career in Amsterdam in 2006. Her feminine sensibility and creative processing push her photography to deepen the subjects she photographs.

Worth to mention that Elena is a resident of our Digital Decade art collaboration and took a part in London, 2016 exhibition "There is No Planet B" with the concept of "Imagine there is no contamination" briefly shown below.

"Artist Refik Anadol [previously] has used the element of light to create an immersive Infinity environment that surrounds visitors in an all-encompassing spectrum of illumination. set at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, the installation forms part of Anadol’s ongoing research into audio/visual spaces. Inside the mirrored chamber and through the careful programming of light, participants’ physical and mental state can be dramatically altered, creating the psychedelic perception an intangible world around them.." via Designboom

Digital Art of Petra Cortright

March 14, 2017 by Arseny Vesnin in Digital Art, Art, Portfolios, 2017, USA

Already named as the Monet of XXI Century by Artsy's Charlotte Jansen "beyond botanicals, her current practice is increasingly aligned with Impressionist ideas, but for the 21st-century set" digital art of Petra Cortright is something to focus on now.

"Her most recent works, now on view in concurrent exhibitions at San Francisco’s Ever Gold [Projects] and Berlin’s Société, are evidence of this: digital paintings filled with flowers and water lilies that are instinctively reminiscent of Monet. Both shows illuminate Cortright’s multi-pronged process. She begins by sourcing imagery online, employing a sort of digital impasto technique to make what she calls “a mother file,” which she then manipulates and prints onto various substrates—such as aluminium panels, sheets of linen, rag paper—which are layered to create the final painting, varying in opacity and translucency." says Artsy

“I came up in such a boy’s club, surrounded by guys—technology-based work can be very guy-heavy. When I was at Parsons, there were maybe three girls in the whole program, it was crazy. Pinterest is heavily geared towards women and I wanted to be using more of that imagery and energy, trying to make something that a lot of people really make fun of, things that are reductive to something that was additive.”
— Petra Cortright
In her latest video for Stella McCartney, artist Petra Cortright moves and shakes in the new Fur Free Fur collection. Shaggy alter fur outerwear and accessories in tactile textiles star against a psychedelic backdrop - think long-haired outerwear and a fuzzy take on the iconic Falabella bag.
