Peter Hapak photography

Peter Hapak raised in Hungary, is a versatile photographer based in the US. He works for commercial and editorial clients, but his main focus lies on portraiture and the human body. His latest works for "Variety" cover shows the double-exposure technique in action, looks neat. But to understand the photographer's inner world better check his "The Protester" series made for The Time magazine Cover of the Year 2011. Time had named the Protester as person of the year 2011 and commisioned Hapak to travel to seven different countries to portray the protesters. In countries as Egypt, Spain, Greece and Tunesia he set up a makeshift studio in hotel rooms, anarchist headquarters and even in a temple in India. Peter also asked the portrayed to bring mementos of protest. Amongst the objects brought were Iphones, rubber pellets and Maalox, a substance used to counter the effects of tear gas. Another story he focused on were the Chilean miners that were trapped in 2010 which resulted in a strong series of black and white portraits. Peter has photographed a vast amount of celebrities as Robin Williams, Bono and Colin Firth. via

Megafaces Sochi - 1st Russian Cannes Lions Gran Prix

Cannes, France — Russia made history here tonight on 21th of June 2014, winning the Grand Prix in the Innovation Lions category for a telecom's installation at the Sochi Olympics that used sophisticated technology to let visitors take giant 3-D "selfies" on a board that acted like a huge pin screen. The so-called MegaFaces Pavilion, sponsored by MegaFon, consisted of 11,000 telescopic cylinders, each of which represented a pixel. As on a pin screen, the cylinders could extend to form the shape of the faces, and LED lights at the ends of the cylinders added the proper color and shading. The data for the 3-D faces was generated in 3-D photo booths inside the building.

Living Moments

Rare advertisement catches my eye but Nokia did it again. This time it was filmed with 50 phones, using the same principle as the ‘bullet time’ technique popularized by the Maxtrix movies. Instead of freezing time like in the movies, the team used a rig to create the illusion of a spinning world. Make sure you ate long before watching this, dizzying effect ahead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmDNjZM3Tu8

Winning ideas will be honoured at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 16:00 CET in the Grand Audi Theatre at Les Palais des Festivals.

“Future Lions is an incredible opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity on the industry’s most prestigious global stage,” said Rei Inamoto, AKQA VP/Chief Creative Officer. “This year, with the theme ‘Rise’, we’re challenging students to ascend to greatness by giving them an opportunity to shape the future with their ideas, and kick-start their careers.”

The Contradiction of Silence

Swedish carpet manufacturer BOLON has announced the launch of its new Silence collection with a fascinating video by Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman. Titled ‘The Contradiction of Silence’, the video tastefully combines the rhythms of BOLON’s carpet looms with the coordinated movements of the dancers, creating a poetic metaphor of ‘woven’ dance and ‘dancing’ machines.

The new Silence collection by BOLON is inspired by Swedish nature, historical textiles and traditional wooden parquet techniques.

Bitches Brew by Wedge & Lever

Awesome example of graphic and packaging design made by talented Wedge & Lever from San Diego. Apart from "Bitches Brew" identity that you can see below their portfolio is a must to explore and inspire.

A self-initiated project exploring the beer and wine category. For the brand story we created a fictitious narrative combined with historical facts from the Salem witch trials. From there we built out the brand and product line by integrating the occult theme into all aspects of this case study.

The final result is a photo series which depicts the brittle beauty of structural and decorative architectural elements.
