Van Gogh on Dark Water Animation

June 20, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Motioncollector, Turkey, Portfolios, 2016

"In this brief video, artist Garip Ay creates an interpretation of Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ painting using a paper marbling technique—or more specifically the Turkish method called ebru. Marbling involves the careful process of floating colors on the surface of water or a slightly more viscous solution called size, before transferring the design or pattern to a special sheet of paper in a dramatic flourish." via Colossal

Colour Hunter Ramin Nasibov

June 19, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Architecture, Germany, Photography, Instagram, Portfolios, 2016

Following the recent publication in the Guardian we reveal our latest favourite Instagram photographer and Berlin-based designer Ramin Nasibov.

“Berlin-based graphic designer Ramin Nasibov began photographing hidden patterns in buildings after he noticed pockets of colour hiding among the city’s grey skyline. “You won’t believe it, but colourful architecture can be found in any city,” he says. “Even the most well-known architectural sight can be shown from an absolutely new corner.” Originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, Nasibov cites the crisp and striking aesthetic of Wes Anderson as an inspiration. “The three key properties for me are minimalism, symmetry and vibrant colours. Capturing these elements allows people to see old buildings from a new perspective.”

Romain Langlois Sculpture

June 17, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in France, Portfolios, Sculpture, 2016, Art

Romain Langlois is a self-taught French contemporary artist based in La Côte Martin, France. He is known for manipulating natural elements and using bronze sculpture to challenge and shape viewers' perceptions of life, death and the world around them. Langlois uses specialized methods that lead to controlled, relatively fast petrification and crystallization, which continues his theme of questioning nature and human perceptions.

Prisma - Artificial Intellect Art Application

June 17, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Russia, Photography, Mobile Applications, 2016

Prisma AI App is a new addition to kicking Russian-built family of great mobile applications that merely started from Glitché and SLMMSK (Vladimir Shreyder, promoted by me at Digitized14 conf) that changed the canvas of digital contemporary art and even influenced the showbiz. Later Facebook bought another speedy Russian filter app MSQRD (Nick Davydov) that rocketed in app store in a matter of month. Few days ago a new wave of Instagram artistic make overs started to appear by the tag #prisma

Creation of a Russian team lead by Aleksey Moiseenkov Prisma transforms your photos into artworks using the styles of famous artists: Van Gogh, Picasso, Levitan, as well as world famous ornaments and patterns. A unique combination of neural networks and artificial intelligence (same algorithm as in Deep Dream technology) helps you turn memorable moments into timeless art.

Our friend and selected artist at Digital Decade 2016 - ARTISTMARK immediately took over the new app and created an awesome artwork we share below

"Rain" sculpture by Nazar Bilyk

June 15, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Sculpture, Ukraine, 2016

Ukrainian artist Nazar Bilyk created the 6-foot tall sculpture “Rain” as a symbol of man’s communication with nature, a dialogue between the human race and the world around us.

“The raindrop is a symbol of the dialogue which connects a man with a whole diversity of life forms. The figure has a loose and porous structure and relates to dry land, which absorbs water. In this work I play with scale, making a raindrop large enough to compare a man with an insect, considering that man is a part of nature. Moreover, this work concerns the question of interaction and difficulties in coexistence of man with environment”

Magical Jungles tiles in Casa Cook Hotel by Karina Eibatova

June 14, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Portfolios, Illustration, Interior Design, Russia, 2016
“I was asked to create a large scale drawing for the tiles of the hotel in a restaurant and a reception area. The hotel Casa Cook is situated in Greece, Rhodes and the theme of the decorative drawing was jungles. My task was to create jungles and integrated animals and a few unusual and magical half-half creatures.

The design of the hotel was created by the German studio. I was working in a collaboration together with Stefan Grüner an art director of Lambs & Lions Network, based in Berlin. ”

Photography of Thierry Bansront

June 14, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in France, Art, Portfolios, Photography, 2016
“I am primarily a portrait painter, lover of faces and emotions that can restore a look, an expression of body movement. I have a preference for rendering homage to the painting of the neoclassical period. the set of lights and colours that highlight the natural beauty of the models. A style that tries to get away from the dictates of modern representation of women to return to us some form of grace and gentleness.”

Scuptures Of Alessandro Boezio

June 13, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Italy, Portfolios, Sculpture, 2016

On the 500th anniversary of Hieronymus Bosch’s death, Milan-based artist Alessandro Boezio pays homage to the Dutch master through a series of surreal sculptures

“Exploring the intriguing interplay between reality and illusion, Boezio refers to the motifs of Bosch’s paintings, in particular ‘Triptych of the Temptation of St. Anthony’. Inspired by characters who try to refuse – or not – physical temptations, Boezio created a series of provoking sculptures in various anatomical formations. With some of them referring to the position during the prayer, and the others suggesting alluding to sexual positions, Boezio’s works teeter between the themes of spirituality and temptation.”

Motion Capture Dance Performance for AICP Awards

June 10, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Advertising, Agencies, Motioncollector, USA, TOP 2016, 2016
“Method Design was tapped by production company RSA to concept and create this year’s sponsor reel for AICP at the MoMA The AICP awards celebrate global creativity within commercial production. Method Design wanted to create an entertaining piece of design that encapsulates the innovative and prolific nature of this industry. Our aim was to showcase the AICP sponsors as various dancing avatars which playfully reference the visual effects used throughout production. Motion capture, procedural animation and dynamic simulations combine to create a milieu of iconic pop dance moves that become an explosion of colorful fur, feathers, particles and more.”

Kiran Gandhi x Joshua Davis x OFFF 2016 Barcelona

June 10, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Portfolios, OFFF, OFFF2016, Motioncollector, 2016

I was lucky to dance through the greatest performance ever dropped by mighty digital artist Joshua Davis at OFFF Festival. Teamed up with M.I.A's drummer Kiran Gandhi, Joshua created a live visual madness.

“A six month secret project incubated inside the Sub Rosa lab performed live at the OFFF Festival in Barcelona Spain. This 40 min rendering is from 27 unique, real-time, audio reactive systems to drive algorithmic animations. Each of the 27 animation systems we’re cue’d at key points in a 40 min track, with some new original music by Madame Gandhi, pre-mixed by Kiran and Alexia Riner. On stage, Kiran live drummed on top of the mix in addition to using OSC (Open Sound Control) to have her percussive hits change variables in the animation system. I also had a base set of variables that I could trigger via OSC that further controlled different aspects of the animation overall.”

Kevin Peterson Art

June 09, 2016 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Portfolios, USA, 2016
“Hyperrealist painter Kevin Peterson paints fairytale-like interactions of children and wolves, birds, and bears in scenes much different than the pastoral worlds of storybooks. Instead Peterson places the unlikely packs in distressed cities filled with decaying buildings and urban detritus. Despite the worn surroundings, the young girls in the paintings maintain a sense of innocence while they bravely explore the streets with their powerful compatriots.”
