iPad 2

March 02, 2011 by Arseny Vesnin in Advertising, Design

Apple did it again. 2 cameras, thin design, nice Smart cover (but recently and personally loved Behance DODO), faster and smarter new iPad 2.

We love it as much as our upcoming iPad Designcollector "MAG" project (est. in April for our 8th Anniversary) that is cooking by a team of Fiodor Sumkin (iPad magazine developer), Aziz Melibayev (Art director) and me as curator.

Type Specimen for iPad

March 01, 2011 by Arseny Vesnin in Typography, Mobile Applications

Since we are developing Designcollector Magazine for iPad (expected in April for our 8th Anniversary) we are interested in creative applications floating around. Here is an awesome app for typography geeks "Type Specimen"

Type Specimen is the first font viewer for iPad, revolutionizing the way digital fonts are presented today. It's an ideal tool for people who need to select fonts for projects - be it magazine design, corporate identity design, web applications, or book typesetting. Type Specimen is a quick and easy way to navigate the type foundry, containing over two hundred original font styles. Type Specimen allows you to categorize individual fonts, make comparisons, or see details of specific glyphs. All of this for free of course.

February 21, 2011 by Arseny Vesnin in France, Motioncollector

My 28th birthday I spent literally under the Pont Neuf in Paris ("New Bridge") hiding from a rain with my family and a good bottle of red. And this video from Emeric is a small reminder to revisit this place again :)

February 16, 2011 by Arseny Vesnin in Art, Digital Art, USA

Okay guys, now you know what famous digital artist Joshua Davis will speak at OFFF 2011 festival. I think he will speak about IBM Super IQ machine "Watson" and the process he created a "face" for "it". That's hard to call Watson "it" because he behave like a human ... well a very well educated human to continously beat a real ones in a famous American quizz show "Jeopardy!". Watch the video below and find out the interesting digital design challenge that Joshua has faced during this project.

UPDATED

Okay and today Watson won the game "Jeopardy!" from two humans

DixonBaxi – Join the Dots

February 10, 2011 by Arseny Vesnin in Agencies, Digital Art, Illustration, United Kingdom

DixonBaxi project "Join the Dots" is a celebration of the spirit of collaboration.

"Our approach has always been one that embraces collaboration as a fundamental part of what we do. Over the last ten years we have worked with highly talented individuals, teams and companies from all over the world that help bring our vision to life" - DixonBaxi

A simple idea. A consistent frame for a multitude of work. A single dot, each representing one collaborator, each a connection to another. Each collaborator is given a template of a dot in a fixed position on an A2 portrait poster. Each interpreted this in their own way.

After watching AndyBoyd's you will have absolutely same face as this squirrel. A-w-e-s-o-m-e!

"Working in England, as Head of 3D Commercials for Framestore CFC, Andy Boyd developed a passion for creating high-end visual effects. His portfolio includes two well received Rexona commercials that feature digital animals running wild in the urban jungle. One of these creatures was even featured on the cover of 3D World #89 along with an article highlighting Andy’s furring technique." - SideFX
