Studio Lin

Before opening Studio Lin, Alex Lin laid the foundation for his own design practice by collaborating with some of the field’s greatest minds. After receiving an MFA in graphic design from Yale University, Alex spent six years at the design firm 2×4 and three years as a partner at Default.

The studio’s approach is founded on a desire to explore new territory through challenging collaborations with creative visionaries in the fields of architecture, industrial design, art and fashion. Behind every Studio Lin design is a highly defined rationale but not a singular style. The common denominator is a fresh, modern sensibility that eschews the overtly trendy in favor of lasting impact. http://studiolin.org/

Into the Abyss by Simon Harsent

Underwater photography by NY based Simon Harsent. Series "Into the Abyss" inspired by the poem of David Harsent

into the abyss

A little deeper and she’ll lose the light. At first the surface is just touchable - shadows that might be clouds or birds in flight… She sets her face to the skim

to get the last of the world she came from, some slight sense of voices fading as she slips from almost-day to almost-night, grey-green shading

first to blue, then more than blue, then to a blue never seen by anyone but her, and that slow drift into darkness set to sever all that she owned or wanted, all she had ever been.

Modai phone concept

New York based designer Julius Tarng revealed his senior project for humanizing mobile devices. The concept of Modai phone answers the question "How can we enhance the relationship between user and device?". Making the device a trusted companion (it has emotions) with a happy human interaction (it has intuition) and sustainable environment (it has smart hardware upgrade system) Julius gives Modai a unique conceptual twist. The more you get into the project the more you love it. Discover more on his portfolio website http://tarng.com

Facebook Headquarters by Studio O+A

A bit dated and we missed that before but still this floats our boat. San Fransisco designers Studio O+A have completed the headquarters for Facebook in Palo Alto, California few years ago.

Zach Johnsen illustration

Portland based artist and illustrator Zach Johnsen famous for his Zenvironments project where he releases inner or whatever beauty hand drawn monsters on paper. But speaking about his portfolio we dig a series of "Acid over Easy" illustrations.. really blowing a head off.

Susan Kare

According to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Susan Kare is “a pioneering and influential computer iconographer. Since 1983, Kare has designed thousands of icons for the world’s leading software companies. Utilizing a minimalist grid of pixels and constructed with mosaic-like precision, her icons communicate their function immediately and memorably, with wit and style.”

She began her career at Apple, Inc. as the screen graphics and digital font designer for the original Macintosh computer, initially advertised as the “computer for the rest of us.” Her studio’s work has continued to optimize for clarity and simplicity and to present concepts in clear, concise, and memorable ways.

Don't forget to check her portfolio and find out the fact she draw icons for Facebook too.
