One Thousand Ksoids

1000 original and collectible KSOIDS 3D characters by VFX artist Danil Krivoruchko -- NFTs with a heart and meaning, now at OpenSea

Meet the Ksoids, an impossibly addictive NFT collectible that not only creates a world all its own, but also helps protect our world. 

Each one of these curious creatures was generated by a hand-crafted algorithm and then lovingly selected by creator Danil Krivoruchko to join an elite group of 1,000 Grade-A Ksoids, all available to the discerning investor.

The first few drops will be sold on the NFT marketplace OpenSea, and available in randomly selected packs of 1, 4, and 10. It’s also possible there will be a few easter eggs thrown into the mix, but that’s all we’re saying for now.

Charity Donations

Thankfully adopting a Ksoid doesn’t have to mean decimating either their habitat or ours. In an attempt to counteract NFTs’ negative environmental impact, Ksoids will work to reduce their footprint through the purchase of carbon offsets.

Not only that, but 20% of all profits will be donated to the Orangutan Outreach, an organization dedicated to protecting orangutans in their native forests, while also caring for orphaned orangutans.

Brooklyn-based Myshli Studio was founded by Danil Krivoruchko, a motion designer, director, and visual effects artist. Krivoruchko's NFT works are already well-known to digital art collectors, having been featured on platforms such as KnownOrigin and Foundation; the Ksoids will mark his premiere on OpenSea. His digital art work is also well-known in the film community. Last October, a collaborative group of designers and artists under the direction of Krivoruchko used 3D-imaging to transform the sci-fi novel "Blindsight" by Peter Watts into a short film. The movie has won over a dozen awards, including the Best Animation Award at the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival. In the past 17 years, Danil has collaborated with clients such as Apple, Nike, Boeing, Verizon, and Intel, to name a few. 

Where The War Things Are by Schoony

We are very proud to welcome new and prominent artist Schoony to the NFT scene on Superrare platform.

Schoony’s background is rooted in special effects and prosthetics for the film industry. His career spans over 30 years. Since the age of fifteen he has worked on over a hundred films. His work and reputation for high quality and pioneering techniques has reached far corners of the world thanks to the representation of Maddox Gallery. Schoony uses 3D technologies alongside the more traditional methods in his art pieces. He continually pushes boundaries within this discipline.

Designcollector: What inspired the work in your first NFT drop?

Schoony: For the first drop with SuperRare I thought I would go back to one of my early works. Where The War Things Are is a variation on my Boy Soldier that has been a motif that has stuck with my work over the years and been very symbolic. Where the War Things Are is a throwback to my time spent in Melbourne, Australia where I was working on the film Where the Wild Things Are. I thought I would celebrate my first drop on SuperRare by recreating the piece digitally.

The Fungible by Pak - Sotheby's x Nifty Gateway

The history is made at night. Mighty digital artist Pak has completed an auction organised by Sotheby’s and Nifty Gateway and paved a path to the history of NFT Art on April 14th 2021.

Pak is an omniscient designer/developer/wizard, one of the leads of the design scene as the founder of Undream and one of the prominent social media figures as the creator of Archillect, the synthetic curator. Pak is currently at uncharted space experimenting with new forms of creation and communication, discovering, learning and teaching along the journey.

“In the Sotheby’s sale, top prices were paid for Pak works that showcased a level of market savvy and gamelike complexity that would be impossible with a canvas or sculpture in real life. “The Switch,” which sold to California cryptocurrency investor Damian Medina for $1.4 million, is a digital image of a rotating, black-and-white geometric shape.” text via WSJ

“Another work, “The Pixel,” sold for $1.4 million to artist Eric Young and elicited bids from many top NFT art collectors in part because its medium-gray monochrome represents a single pixel, the building block of digital imagery.”

The auction for the open edition “Cube” was set up in a way of mathematical game explained neatly in this tweet and hardly understandable for us but at the end it went as 23151 sold editions of a single Cube. Obtaining a sequence of single Cubes made collectors to receive an NFT of 5, 10, 20, 100, 500 and 1000x1000 cubes based on how many cubes they own. This action burst a second sale in the form of pyramid. The top secondary market buyers will get other unique NFTs. This creates buying pressure in the secondary market, further adding value to single cubes.

Unlike the debut of Beeple’s The First 5000 days NFT on Christies', Pak created a brain puzzle for those who a seriously familiar with math and cryptocurrencies leaving others watching this Game agape.

Surreal Infraland™ by Paolo Pettigiani

Photographer and art director Paolo Pettigiani combines graphic design and photography playing with colours, shapes and contrasts. 

Infraland™ is a graphic and visual exploration of nature that aims to highlight the beauty that surrounds us and that is too often forgotten. For this project I used digital Infrared photography. This technique enables the full sensitivity of the camera’s sensor, making it sensitive to UV, visible, and IR light.
Elements with chlorophyll, such as grass, leaves and trees, strongly reflect IR light on the invisible wavelength.

Tom Blachford Photography

Working at the intersection of long exposure photography and exploration of the built environment Tom Blachford’s Fine Art Photographs seek to transform predictable and known environments into surreal and dreamlike worlds.

Obsessed with capturing the moments of clarity, colour and mystery that exist just beyond the limits of our human perception Blachford explores the ability for his camera to bridge our worlds to dark worlds beyond our reach.

Captivated by architecture, not only for its sculptural forms, Blachford’s images of homes, towns and suburbs act as the the stage for unwritten narratives that implore the viewer to script their own drama happening behind the walls of each scene.

Using only existing light sources – the moon (Midnight Modern), The neon Lights of Tokyo (Nihon Noir) or the harsh street lights of LA (Noct Angeles) Blachford hunts for the overlooked cinematic moments in the everyday and works to distil them with a sense of mystery, unease and wonder.

In conjunction with the 2021 Spring equinox, ‘The Equinox Collection’ by GRIF will be exclusively available on SuperRare. 

The collection presents surrealist depictions of the everyday as it is overtaken by nature. An invisible catalyst moves through each piece - a transfer of natural energy that pollinates each environment, reimagining it as an expansive floral tapestry.

The pieces are a juxtaposition between our manmade environments and nature. “This concept was born out of wanting to craft something optimistic and beautiful, but to create works thats can only exist within the medium of 3D” says GRIF. “What I love most is that these expressions of nature could never exist in the natural world, it’s a reinterpretation born only from the digital space.”

And now available exclusively in the digital space. The Equinox Collection will be released in weekly increments over the late March to April period on SuperRare.

Moreover, the introduction of floral growth finds itself in evolving on the more unexpected, non-organic surfaces in the scene. Populating the graphic and geometric lines of the basketball court markings, seen here in “Angels Gate”

3D as a medium

Here, in the re-imagining of ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ (Johannes Vermeer 1665), the flat oil painting becomes “dimensionalized”, as our camera investigates the finer details of the cracking paint and textural details. The form of the girl becomes appended with a blooming floral arrangement, representing the passing of time with something that is timeless, nature

Expanding the dimensions of these pieces is something only achievable by the medium of 3D animation, movement is essential to the presentation concept of the works

The Transfer of Energy

The cinematography of ‘Great Basin Skate Heaven’ is a blend of fish-eye and long lens zooms, paying homage to that of classic skate videos style that’s remained prevalent in the culture since its inception.

We follow a skater as they perform tricks and stunts in a skaters paradise, located in the Utah Great Basin. The idyllic sunset scene bears witness to the transfer of energy between this floral figure and the contrasting concrete environment beneath, saturated in graffiti. The figure acting as a catalyst, pollinates the park causing nature to reclaim the concrete

The World's First Digital NFT Home by Krista Kim

Contemporary artist Krista Kim, who was a part of our latest Digital Decade 2020 edition and had collaborations with brands such as Lamborghini and Lanvin, has ventured into the crypto-creative field, announcing her design of the first digital home available for purchase as an NFT file. Krista is not the only designer to do shift to digital work; just a few weeks ago, another friend of us, the Argentinian designer Andrés Reisinger sold 10 virtual pieces of furniture in an online auction.

Beeple: The First 5000 Days

Being a pioneer of digital art promotion - Designcollector is always looking for the breakaway artists whose intuition way ahead of the main peloton. Groundbreaking digital artist Mike Winkelmann known as Beeple is one of them. Since 2007 Mike has created 5,000+ digital artworks by following a simple rule: one image per day. The diligence paid off when the rise of NFT trading burst like a fresh wave onto the digital art scene just at the moment of another lockdown after another lockdown during 2020. Beeple played a huge role in reinforcing beliefs in quite an ephemeral way of selling unique artworks for cryptocurrency by imprinting them “forever” into Ethereum blockchain.

His January’s drop of a dozen phygital artworks (non-fungible token JPG + physical collectible including a certificate “signed” by artist’s hair in a capsule) rocketed the NFT scene by a one week auction on Nifty Gateways platform.

And here come Christie’s what means art institutions started to look (if not late) onto the opportunity to catch an NFT wave by putting Beeple’s EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS - a huge stitched image featuring all images he created over 13 years. Organised in loose chronological order, zooming in on individual pieces reveals abstract, fantastical, grotesque, and absurd pictures, alongside current events and deeply personal moments. The NFT is minted on another platform Makersplace and is available for bidding on Christie’s website
