Conceptual Architecture by Roman Vlasov

Vlasov’s striking conceptual architecture hits upon contemporary’s most important design features: sharpness, elegance, simplicity, and sleekness. The juxtaposition between nature and the rigidity of a man-made structure accentuate the beauty of the construction. Aesthetically beautiful, Vlasov’s work is efficiently displayed from every angle. Akoura Residence Youssef Tohme Architects

"Conceived by Youssef Tohme as a break with the city, this house perched on a cliff edge in Lebanon is a monolith dressed in local stone mounted upon concrete walls. Up in the mountains at an altitude of 1200 meters, this house perched on a cliff edge came about as the result of a special request of a client seeking both distance from and a break with the city.Dressed in local stone mounted upon concrete walls, the SC house was approached as a dislocation, its outer skin torn from the mountain it seems to resemble." - via Domus

Brutal London

Brutal London is a project of Polish design studio Zupagrafika. A collection of paper cut-out models representing brutalist architecture of London from 1960s-1970s. The series features various buildings scattered around the districts of Camden, Southwark and Tower Hamlet. The `raw concrete` London tour begins with iconic tower blocks (Balfron Tower and Space House), leads through council estates doomed to premature demolition (Robin Hood Gardens and Aylesbury Estate) and concludes with a classic prefab panel block (Ledbury Estate). The collection is made up of five illustrated models to assemble and exhibits all kinds of original details present on the buildings` facades.

Cooklyn in Brooklyn

"Looking at the visual identity for http://aruliden.com/work/cooklyn, a Brooklyn restaurant specializing in "micro seasonal cuisine," is like wandering into a 19th-century warehouse inhabited by cowboys and cleaned by Mary Poppins." says FastCo, and we can't disagree. This "authentic rustic chic" design system built by Aruliden is something to study or collect as an inspiration for further projects. cooklyn-aruliden-1

Hyperjump

Hyperjump” is a light and sound sculpture performance created by Tundra Collective, took place in December 2014, at First Cadet Corps, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Installation occupied the old soviet basketball ground built inside a 19-century classicism hall a part of the Military Academy building. The 25 moving head spotlights and a powerful 2-channel sound system created the atmosphere of a void and a Hyper Jump. While the light sculpture started to move, the electronic light devices came live, following the audience movements.

Lights: Alexander Letcius, Alexander Sinica, Pavel Zmunchila Sound: D-Pulse Technical support: Main Division Event idea and production: the Dreamers United, Bulat Sharipov Special thanks to: Saint Petersburg State University, The Riders, Publica

Coffee Stain Drawings by Carter Asmann

Few times we posted Carter's works on our Instagram, now we get our hands on his portfolio full of drawings created from a coffee cup stains. Among his most impressive pieces are his graphite drawings of motorcycles and other vehicles that rest on drippy caffeinate circles. The contrast of his detailed renderings with the sloppy coffee tires never seems to get old.

Black Water Whirlpool by Anish Kapoor

The Head Magician of contemporary arts Anish Kapoor recently revealed his new installation during the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in India, his birthplace.

Unexpectedly set into the gallery floor is a large, seemingly endless hole. In it, a vortex of black water perpetually froths and churns. The whirlpool alters the form, or skin, of the water creating a fury of liquid that invades the walls of the gallery. Descension was on view in a corner room at the Aspinwall House in Fort Kochi, a meaningful location because the room opens to views of a peaceful sea that creates a striking contrast to the powerful whirling vortex.
