SCRIPTURA VITAE by Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic

If you bought our latest DCMAG magazine you might recognise the maestro of black typography and graphic force London-based and Argentina-rased Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic. We also featured his latest motion video "SCRIPTURA VITAE" on our interactive magazine pages.

"Mestrovic's latest venture is an ambitious three-part journey into the unknown that showcases Lex's haunting ritualistic calligraphy, alongside stunningly choreographed Japanese Butoh performances set to a score which features original music by the Grammy Nominated DIPLO. The film stars famed Japanese actress Miho Nikaido, best known for her role in the cult-classic and previously banned film Tokyo Decadence which was written and directed by lauded novelist Ryu Murakami. The effects in the film are visually striking, combining modern compositing with in-camera painting to devise something wholly unique." says Souris

The Quarterly

Founder of The Creative Book project, Sanj Sahota, who works as a designer for ORB Brand Agency UK by day, has turned to the popular crowd-funding website, www.kickstarter.com to raise funds to cover printing costs for the second issue of his latest endeavour, The Quarterly Magazine, which he describes as: "A creative journal with a focus on the photographic medium which aims to do things ethically and fairly".

In October, Mr Sahota and the team will also be hosting a 3-day exhibition in London to celebrate the launch of issue 2 of The Quarterly and further promote all of their contributors exclusively featured work from the printed magazine. "We're going to put together something amazing where people can meet our talented contributors and have a chance to see all of their work up in lights. True talent deserves recognition and we want to make sure we shout about it from the rooftops."

Ballpoint Pen Drawings by Gareth Edwards

New works from Gareth Edwards, a UK based artist, predominantly working in ballpoint pen.

"I began working in ballpoint pen because I was to lazy to sharpen a pencil, or put away my paints at the end of the day. The simplicity of the ballpoint pen first appealed to me at school. The initial scribbles I did then, have since become an addiction in trying to create a drawing that is so realistic its deceives its audience into thinking such a detailed piece couldn't have been created with such a humble source."

Maiko Takeda fashion photography

Maiko Takeda is a student of jewelry design and fashion, a fact that is apparent in these stunning photographs. Takeda’s portraits feature figures adorned or ornamented, creating interesting juxtapositions of light and shadow, geometry, space, and logic. Out of a simple and seemingly ordered concept emerges something intricate, chaotic, and mysterious. Takeda’s work is both elegant and bizarre, a world where beauty is revealed through obfuscation and composition. Takeda is currently pursuing a Masters in Millinery at the Royal College of Art. via
