Frameworks One

What if displaying your favorite photos were more like playing your favorite vinyl records? A couple of Swedish designers want to introduce a similar ecosystem of “discs,” sleeves, and “players” to the world of photo frames. The idea is called the Frameworks One, a backlit frame for printed photos that can quickly be physically swapped in and out. Preorder it on Kickstarter

Emotionally Rich Portraits by Kersti K

"Kersti K is an art and fashion photographer based in Malmö, Sweden. Her images are pretty authentic and emotionally rich that pushes viewers to ask themselves "what is the story here?". Lately we come across to similar style of photography around but in this crowd her works are definitely worth watching. Hidden faces, mirrors, vintage decorations, retro clothing, experimental frames, and calm but strong tones and light." via Joquz

The Contradiction of Silence

Swedish carpet manufacturer BOLON has announced the launch of its new Silence collection with a fascinating video by Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman. Titled ‘The Contradiction of Silence’, the video tastefully combines the rhythms of BOLON’s carpet looms with the coordinated movements of the dancers, creating a poetic metaphor of ‘woven’ dance and ‘dancing’ machines.

The new Silence collection by BOLON is inspired by Swedish nature, historical textiles and traditional wooden parquet techniques.

Michael Johansson art

Sweden contemporary artist Michael Johansson among numerous of excellent installation works has "Some Assembly Required" and "TOYS’R’US" projects that attracted our attention. Fascinated by assembling objects from model kits as a child, Michael Johansson transforms everyday objects into models of themselves. Taking away their original purpose, the life-size kits hold a commentary on today’s ways of living. In his first piece from the series, TOYS’R’US, a boat and related equipment are joined together in a welded metal frame. Everything is painted in a unifying plastic layer to resemble the surface of a model kit.
