Generation Selfie born with frontal camera instead of mirror is heading with giant leaps into the new decade. Despite VR predictions the year 2019 became a metaphor for AR Narcissism after Facebook released Spark platform and opened a code for everyone able to create an Instagram mask. Spark pioneers who had early access opened a Pandora box to a hoard of creators that flood a selfie market with easy to go digital “face masks” some praised only by friends others by millions of users and influencers. We, at Designcollector, being a pioneers in Digital Arts and delivering a lot of Phygital collaborations decided to select best Instagram Masks of 2019. Not too much, just several of them, but epic.
Thematically, @Sufferosa is a neo-noir thriller and a satire on the cultural obsession with beauty and youth in the present-day world. The story follows a private eye Ivan Johnson looking for a missing woman. His investigation leads him to Carlos von Braun’s Clinic. This is when the interactive part begins - the user becomes the detective and unfolds the story piece by piece adding suspense and intrigue to a narrative.
In this artistic, non-commercial storytelling experiment the directors duo The Kissinger Twins strive to create a new kind of serialized storytelling in social media. @Sufferosa blends original footage with samples from classic film, literature, and music (Glass Candy, Sonic Youth), taking influences from adventure games.
The artist’s “Hipstory Artist Series” is a continuation of Amit Shimoni original Hipstory project, which began with images of political figures. Amit has now expanded his portfolio to include new paintings of art stars, such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dalí, Frida Kahlo, and Andy Warhol.
Mike Winkelmann known as Beeple is doing a strong digital artwork a day. Literally every day for the last 11 years (sic!). We believe he has no time to collect them chronologically but sometimes it happens, like this time with November 2017 pack, available for appreciations on Behance. (We were happy to had Beeple involved in our Digital Decade exhibition last year where he recreated 3D worlds in VR Chat based on designs he selected from own competition ran with Kingdeluxe Label)
NYPL comes with a pioneer initiative to use Instagram Stories as a visual storytelling for a book. Baked by Mother Agency and talented artists and illustrators they created a brand new Insta Novels
“Instagram unknowingly created the perfect bookshelf for this new kind of online novel. From the way you turn the pages, to where you rest your thumb while reading, the experience is already unmistakably like reading a paperback novel. We have to promote the value of reading, especially with today’s threats to American system of education.”
In the coming months, look for two other literary works that will be released on the Library's Instagram account: "The Yellow Wallpaper," a short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman illustrated by Buck (@buck_design) and The Metamorphosis, a novella by Franz Kafka illustrated by César Pelizer (@cesarpelizer).
Dubbed “Insta Novels,” each piece has been chosen for their highly visual nature. To increase the project’s reach, designers and artists with large Instagram followings have been tapped to create these digital novels, - via Artnet

MAC Cosmetics approached talented "liquid designer" Ruslan Khasanov to create a unique and creative instagram content to highlight brand's lip color products

Cynthia Morris "Cindy" Sherman is an American photographer and film director, best known for her conceptual portraits. In 1995, she was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.
With "Lorem de Loop”, Lukas Bruhn manages a project where he creates a poster every day for one whole year. 123 days in and he’s still going strong.
Lukas Bruhn is a 24 year old art director from Germany. His focus is in advertising, but he has created “Lorem de Loop” as a way to challenge himself with new design concepts by experimenting with different softwares, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Cinema 4D.
As an art director in advertising, Bruhn’s job is focused on strategic concepting, which often leaves him with little time for developing the actual craft related to the industry. So in early spring 2017, Lukas decided to continue honing his skills with this artistic venture, where he would create a poster every day for one year.
“‘Lorem de Loop’ helps me to expand my horizon in design. It keeps my mind fresh at working with intricate programs, while giving me the opportunity to try out new software.”
The 24 year old art director uses Instagram to publish his work. “This gives me a lot of pressure to actually complete a poster each day!” says Lukas Bruhn.

"Cambodian artist Visoth Kakvei masterfully brings together symbolism and style, and no sketchbook has enough pages for his creativity.
The 27-year-old graphic designer usually draws his works freehand and the pieces take 3-6 hours to finish, but sometimes Kakvei feels it's not enough. So, to make his incredibly intricate maze-like illustrations even more stunning, the artist digitally enhances them, making the doodles appear as if they're popping out from the pages.

New York based designer Nick Misani shares his latest affair with floor mosaics he got in while still working at Louise Fili Studio she founded few decades ago. Formerly senior designer for Herb Lubalin, Louise Fili was art director of Pantheon Books from 1978 to 1989, where she designed close to 2,000 book jackets. The idea to run a small self-initiated project Fauxsaics came to Nick while he was digitally restoring Louise' books. He started to create faux digital mosaic inspired by the piece he saw in London
