The band's latest high-concept music video clip was uniquely filmed in the iconic Budapest train station, utilizing a remarkable setup that included 29 robotic arms, an impressive total of 60 mirrors, and a dazzling array of eye-popping props and colorful costumes that are sure to capture the viewer's attention.
Washed Out - The Hardest Part
A journey through memory lane.
'The Hardest Part,' from Washed Out's upcoming album Notes From a Quiet Life, will be released on June 28. This marks the first official collaboration between a musician and filmmaker, crafted using OpenAI's Sora video model.
Moving on is challenging. This video reflects the process of letting go of a loved one and the dreams that linger after they've passed. Memories are subjective, often acting as distorted mirrors of reality. I embraced the surreal nature of Sora's dream logic to uncover imagined memories, revealing the distinctive qualities that set AI apart from reality. The video's uncanny details and dream-like movement reflect this blurred mirror of memories.

Matsu - INERCIA dir. Héctor Ayuso
“I had an idea already in my head for a while, so one day I lay down on the sofa, with my headphones on, and listened to “INERCIA” for several hours, trying to mentally record everything that appeared naturally in my visual imagination, at the same time as I was constructing the “edit” in my head. It was only when I had everything clear that I sat down at the computer to compose the video.”

Modeselektor feat. Catnapp - Dating is in China
While Modeselektor’s recent Extended mixtape is populated with all sorts of musical experiments, even the duo’s most ardent fans might be surprised by Dating is in China, which is quite possibly the most overtly pop track they’ve ever created. A collaboration with Argentinian artist (and Monkeytown regular) Catnapp, it’s also the title track of the third EP released in Extended’s aftermath, following on from Mean Friend and Social Distancing.

“I’ve always loved pop music. Some of my favourite writers and singers are female, many who are younger than me but who are absolutely smashing the pop world with amazing songs. This song started off as an experiment and ended up being one of my favourites on the record. Along with our alternative side, this creates a light and shade on our album that I’ve always wanted to achieve.”

Modeselektor - WORK
“Created in an unforgiving year, “Work” became a refuge, a place to find solace from the outside world. The inescapable thump of Modeselektor’s “Extended” left me embodying mundane tasks so intensely that not only did these tasks become important but their original purpose was forgotten, the “doing” more significant than any result. I rediscovered the intention of simple tasks to create my reality without regard to any past. I structured “Work” in a way that asks the performer not to “perform”, but to drench themselves in a state of process. By fully embodying each task I find myself in a minefield of emotion. “Work” is an exorcism of boredom in both its creation and in its practice. One will undoubtedly reflect and feel different from before it all began.... again + again... from a lonely pew.”

Each volume — Meditations, Lamentations, Revelations, Celebrations, and Incantations — finds Sufjan exploring a different aspect of loss, taking listeners through “mourning, healing, and catharsis.”
