Shelves by Mat Brown

"A few days ago, UK industrial designer and jeweler Mat Brown shared with the Reddit community his ingenious idea for a set of resin inlaid chestnut shelves. Starting with a cracked piece of chestnut wood he mixed standard resin with some mysterious glow-in-the-dark powder he bought on Ebay which he used to fill in the gaps. And voilà, instant glowing furniture with unknown side effects. Seriously though, they look amazing, and you can see his fully detailed tutorial over on his blog. Brown also makes lots of funky jewelry which he sells over on Etsy." text by Colossal mat-brown4

Sleepy embroidered animals by Chloe Giordano

Based in Oxford, England, illustrator Chloe Giordano creates delicate depictions of miniature animals rendered with freehand embroidery. The final works of a sleeping fawn or mouse are scarcely larger than the size of a thimble, yet can take long periods of time to complete as she mixes myriad thread colours to achieve perfection for each piece. Giordano also creates various 3D sculptures which you can see more of over on her Tumblr, and says that she is currently available for projects and commissions. via Colossal

Interactive Fashion by The Unseen

"The air is made up of many different components that are products of our environment, including pollution, moisture, and more. London-based artist Lauren Bowker and her material exploration studio THE UNSEEN have developed a form of ink that’s reactive to the different fluctuations in the wind as well as our own body. It’s demonstrated in a couture capsule collection entitled Air, which was designed for Swarovski and presented during London’s Fashion Week 2014." via

Wake up with a fresh cup of coffee

British designer Joshua Renouf made dreams come true - coffee scent as a morning alarm, what else to add? The coffee maker "Barisieur" heats the water with induction elements and brews the coffee all by itself – all you have to do is load it up the night before. Interestingly, Renouf points out that this preparation process may actually help users fall asleep at night; “It encourages a ritual before going to sleep, signalling to the body and mind that it is time to unwind and relax,” he writes on his website. barisieur

Maxwell Doig

Maxwell Doig was born in Huddersfield. He graduated from Manchester School of Art in 1988 with a BA in Fine Art and went on to pursue his postgraduate studies in Fine Art at the Slade School of Art, London, between 1988 and 1990. Doig is preoccupied with the human figure and its spatial relationship combined with the interplay of light and shade. His use of unconventional viewpoints depicting static solitary figures along with the application of subtle pigments and textural complexity results in contemplative ephemeral imagery. In 1997 he was awarded the Villiers David Prize. He lives and works in Manchester.
