FITC 2016 Amsterdam Creative
The inspiration for this project came from a book from author David Bayles called Art and Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking. I've often struggled with being a designer trying to make art. The concept of this project was to visualize common emotions creators share. From the highs and lows to delusions of grandeur, I wanted to see it all. That concept led to an attempted story of a young artist commissioned to create her most ambitious work yet. We follow her thru an exploration of self, along with the many phases one obsesses over while creating. I fed off the emotions I was experiencing making these titles; emotions such as curiosity, excitement, anxiety, passion, fear, helplessness and sacrifice. In the end it's these devices that became the foundation for each deliverable.
