Mujuice - La La Land

December 20, 2014 by Arseny Vesnin in TOP 2014, 2014

The most talented Russian electronic composer and musician Roma Litvinov best known as Mujuice is back with a new acid trippy music video released to support new album Planetarium

This video is made out of bits and pieces of my trips and experiences. There is no specific narrative, — all of it is made from scraps of what I filmed in LA and along the Pacific coast. I like working with scattered materials, putting them together again and again like pieces of the puzzle.

The Acid - Ghost

December 19, 2014 by Arseny Vesnin in 2014

The electro dream team The Acid returns with a surreal feast for senses

“Originally the inspiration came from a story I heard about Ray Charles being a huge Corvette fan,” says Petecia Le Fawnhawk, co-director of the latest release from transatlantic supergroup, The Acid. “I was overcome with awe as I stood in front of a 1967 Stingray, thinking of how it would be to discover such a magnificent creation through touch and the wonder of being born blind. I shared my idea with Eliot [Lee Hazel] who immediately had an emotional connection as his father was blind.” Set amidst stark Californian Dumont Dunes that evoke the backdrop of Salvador Dalí’s "La Femme Nue Dans Le Desert," the new video conjures up an appropriately surreal universe.

"Ghost" is taken from The Acid's 2014 debut album, Liminal, released on Infectious Music/Mute Records.

Röyksopp - Skulls

December 01, 2014 by Arseny Vesnin in TOP 2014, 2014

"Skulls" was the first track taken from the album "The Inevitable End", a song that comes with an invitation and a stark warning, set amongst squelchy bass lines and filtered synths. Norwegian director and long time collaborator Stian Andersen made the haunting black and white film that accompanies the song.

It follows the ominous journey of Svein and Torbjørn with friends and 83 year-old Adolf into dark woods and dark places.

D-Pulse - Astronomers

November 24, 2014 by Arseny Vesnin in 2014

D-Pulse is an Saint-Petersburg based live-electronic music trio, coming originally from Izhevsk city, Russia. For the past few years D-Pulse has released their music on such established labels as Island, Tirk, OM, Theomatic and Teardrop.

Influenced by French and Scandinavian electronic music scene, they found their own approach in balancing on the edge of very different music genres, experimenting with combining live recording sessions full of analogue synthesizers, guitars, drum machines with sampling, cutting and processing their own material. From the very beginning D-Pulse is a ragbag of different styles and individual music tastes, but the real effect their music has during their audio-visual live shows. The band is already has the status of most vivid live electronic music act in Russia.

COH - BECHA KPACHA

November 12, 2014 by Arseny Vesnin in 2014

BECHA-KPACHA (pronounced VesnA KrasnA) is an algorithmic music video produced by Jeremy Rotsztain for the electronic musician COH. Riffing on traditional Russian folk patterns the colour-splashed animation is full of Rotsztain’s signature gestural forms and synchronized camera movements. BECHA-KPACHA is an old Russian rhyme. Its title roughly translates as "spring the beautiful" or "spring the red."

BECHA-KPACHA was programmed using openFrameworks. It uses Kyle McDonald’s ofxFFT library for audio analysis and James George’s ofxTimeline for arranging the different visual objects and behaviors. COH provided me with a collection different audio tracks — synthesizer arpeggiators, percussion, bleeps and bass — which were used to trigger and animate various shapes in three dimensional space.

Marion Cotillard Makes Music With Metronomy Frontman

November 11, 2014 by Arseny Vesnin in 2014

Marion Cotillard has returned to the recording studio with Metronomy frontman Joseph Mount and Villaine to produce a gorgeous new track, ‘Snapshot in LA’. In collaboration with i-D and Dior. "Enter The Game" sees Marion reclining by the pool decked out in Dior’s autumn/winter 14 collections, her silky vocals accompanied by a soft acoustic guitar melody which gives way to a more atmospheric electronic sound.

Hence the Boomstarter website is available only in Russian but you can check her website for more details about the artist and donation.

The sensible version is that Nadia is a singer/songwriter and pianist from Saint Petersburg in Russia. She is twenty-something years old and speaks English fluently. The real version is that through trying a large number of jobs she has gained a wealth of experience to assist her in her song-writing. These jobs have included performing as a clown at children’s parties and acting, for a short period, as a translator for Russian live nude models on the internet, and have made her the woman she is today.

Having hitch-hiked around Europe, including Spain and Italy, she considers herself to be an internationalist. This is emphasised by the facts that she has won singing and song-writing competitions in her native Russia, is signed to a record label in the USA, has recently signed to a management company based in the UK and has performed on the streets and in the clubs of many European cities. Nadia’s songs and vocals have been influenced by the likes of Avril Lavigne and her sound has been compared to Kelly Clarkson and Lady Gaga

Black Atlass 'JEWELS' video Directed by Yoann Lemoine (aka Woodkid who announced his gap year from music but still doing epic direction and photography)Get Black Atlass " YOUNG BLOODS " Ep here!

The Fader Magazine: "Speaking to this idea, director Yoann Lemoine described his creative process for us: "I used a DIY 3D scan system that rebuilds models from multiple still images, and what we call camera mapping, and played with this material in my computer. The reality pictured in this video only exists in the computer I used to create the piece. I loved the idea of humans golden like objects, like pieces of furniture. I treated them with the same precious care we treat Jewels. I wanted to question the limits of incarnation, of organic versus digital, creating a piece that was equally beautiful and intense. Equally organic and digital." citing The Fader
