Japanese Retailer Installs 25,000 Piece Pottery Installation

July 30, 2015 by Arseny Vesnin in Interior Design, Japan, 2015

Ceramics from the region of Hasami are amongst the most renowned in Japan, and here find new life within the retail space of compatriot manufacturer Maruhiro. Instead of throwing away “seconds” – that is, pieces of homeware deemed unusable by the manufacturer – the Hasami-made pieces have been recycled by Yusuke Seki Design Studio to comprise a new installation within the space. The 25,000 piece installation is meant to celebrate the longstanding heritage of ceramics in the region, while also cleverly creating a platform for Hasami’s pottery
