Yumi Zouma - In Camera

March 16, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019

Two teenagers have a date one night when their parents are out of town. The young lady wants to impress our young man with a surprise performance… and ends up taking it to a whole other level. The boy is caught off guard and feels awkward but it all works out in the end.

Yumi Zouma are a dream-pop band from New Zealand. Based in different cities around the world, the band collaborate online, and meet to play live. Following on from the success of their second album “Willowbank”, the band released the short four-track “EP III” in late 2018.

In Camera” was the first single from the EP, and has become one of the band’s most triumphant tracks, garnering large-scale plays on streaming services and quickly becoming a fan favourite. Written over the course of five years, the roots of ‘In Camera’ stem from one of the band’s very first ideas - an effervescent guitar riff that juxtaposes minimalist production, reflective vocal melodies, and a driving bassline reminiscent of the band’s earliest material.

Shura - BKLYNLDN

March 12, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019

Almost three years on since the release of her debut, Shura has returned with new track ‘BKLYNLDN’.

This recreation of Rodin’s classic artwork ’The Kiss’ with female subjects challenges the viewer to see the true essence of romantic love between two people, no matter their gender.

“With ‘BKLYNLDN’ I wanted to explore having both a sonic & lyrical evolution. It’s about desire - playing with the idea of it being all consuming and at times overwhelming. It starts with the immediacy of physical desire - ‘this isn’t love’ and yet as the song unfolds that sentiment begins to unravel; I am clearly in love and instead of my girlfriend coming to London, I end up moving Brooklyn. I wanted to capture that reversal and for me that section feels like my summer, skipping through Brooklyn, holding hands with my girlfriend and singing out loud without caring about how stupid you look.”

Smoky Mo - Moziarty

March 11, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019

The 16mm short music film for the single ‘MOZIARTY’ by Smoky Mo explores the concepts of originality of the artist’s voice in a copy-paste and hype-chasing world.
Each quatrain of a song is represented by a single shot scene that the viewer gets to see only once as a part of a video puzzle of subtext driven imagery.

Cinematographer: aleksandr dmitriev

Shea Butter Baby - Ari Lennox with J.Cole

March 01, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019

"Shea Butter Baby" is a celebration of browns — brown skin, brown floors, brown decor. Lennox moves wistfully like steam, seeking to enchant her busy partner whose eyes have settled on the glare of his MacBook screen instead of her curves. Heads offer a means of scene transportation, with the camera zooming in to dark fade haircuts and kinky curls to enter in and out of a dreamy existence. In this alternate plane, the walls are covered in chocolate and the brown skin of dancing vixens glistens in the dim light.

Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved

February 20, 2019 by Arseny Vesnin in 2019

“Scottish musician and Brit Awards Critics’ Choice nominee Lewis Capaldi’s latest music video is a little bit different – and not just because it functions as an advert for organ donation charity Live Life Give Life.

No, the real standout part of the video for his song Someone You Loved is that its lead is none other than Lewis’ namesake and distant relative Peter Capaldi, best known for playing the lead role in BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who.“

In the video, the elder Capaldi plays a bereaved husband who finds some joy when he visits the family of the woman his wife donated her heart to, and is able to listen to her heartbeat one last time.
