Ecole

ecole.jpg

Nicolas Simon and Max Turnheim are architects who live and work in Paris. They have devoted the past six years of their practice and research to introducing programmatic logic into architecture and design. In 2008 they founded Ecole, a multi-disciplinary studio whose work extends from architecture to design, from graphic design to artistic direction.
I personally like their Classic section where work of famous architects and graphic designers is described and showcased.

Hu2 Stickers

hu2-stickers.jpg

Hu2 is a young design company based in London and specialised in wall decoration. In order to stay apart from their numerous competitors, they have launched a new collection based on the usefulness of wall graphics within the household, resulting in a range of story-telling reminders or signage-related home stickers.

Some of these second generation wall stickers, called 'SHRs' (it stands for Sustainable Habit Reminders) are meant to be stuck around your wall plugs and light switches, creating a strong visual focus on these items, and increasing people's awareness about their electricity consumption via some quirky and original illustrated stories.

Wether it is a forest of paper windmills pluged into your wall or a hamster running on a treadmill which hypothetically generates the electric power you need, these wall stickers will never fail to make you switch off the lights when you leave a room.

The Making of the 4 Vase Cabinet by Katz

katz2009.jpg

Early last year we reviewed Latvian designer Stanislav Katz and his gorgeous concept furniture like 4 Vase Cabinet. Nowadays he has opened a self named studio and produced bombé cabinet in black lacquered MDF. Contemporist magazine has revealed some making of photos that you may find interesting.

Fiodor Sumkin for Nothing

nothing.jpg

"Nothing is a new commercial creative agency formed by Michael Jansen and Bas Korsten that has just opened its doors in Amsterdam. ...the Nothing office is an unusual construction too, in that it is built almost entirely out of cardboard. ...illustrator Fiodor Sumkin was the first to liven up Nothing’s predominantly brown colour scheme with some well-crafted penmanship." via CreativeReview blog

Markus Hofer

markus.jpg

В своих работах дизайнер и инсталлятор Маркус Хофер миксует хулиганство уличных граффити и лаконичность музейных экспозиций. Его деликатные вторжения в среду объектов формируют новые образы, которые интуитивно понятны всем.

Markus' work is very fresh, an in between graffiti and installation. His work consists of redesigning elements of a space to make it an object altogether. The interventions of Markus Hofer generate images that become an incentive for stories which everybody of us can adopt as one's own.Every intervention interrupts the time which we are living in, so that another level of perception is created.
