Photo by @casey_gleghorn (http://bit.ly/1Rc3fvL)Very excited about the Pretty Creepy exhibition at @boothgallery . 95% of the show is hung. Heavy on unsellable (the way is should be) installations and all the artists are exhibiting raw and honest work.
this is the sketch of @dylanchavles Which has nothing to do with the painting I want to make.. I like the sketches to seem.. off… this series was born out of a quote from a favorite book -“But I was in search of love in those days, and I went full of curiosity and the faint, unrecognized apprehension that here, at last, I should find that low door in the wall, which others, I knew, had found before me, which opened on an enclosed and enchanted garden, which was somewhere, not overlooked by any window, in the heart of that grey city” AND my life experience.. when I knew I was leaving New York because of my mom.. the skin cancer and my role as a plus one.. I would walk around the city for hours.. collecting faces.. making eye contact.. trying to find that low door.. or just recognizing that everyone was doing the same.. and as I sat in isolation here.. In my new life- remembering I wasn’t alone. None of the faces are LITERALLY from that experience and are in fact .. from my life now.. coming back.. and finding like minded people. Meanwhile .. I’ve been creating this garden here. That enchanted garden. Yah. so.
